Please Help! Black Screen after updating/installing Island Paradise!

Hi.

After downloading the latest patch and Island Paradise, I found my game wouldn't start so I 

• removed my mods
  
• re-installed everything
  
• updated the game
  
• applied The Ultimate Fix
  

and crossed my fingers only to be met with the exact same problem I had before, having a black screen that lasts forever with no sound.  There is no way of shutting down the game after the black screen comes on, I always have to re-start my computer.

I looked closer at the new version of the Ultimate Fix and noticed something that seemed strange (but might just be me being dumb).  In the updated Installation Guide, it says this:

After following these steps I noticed that the two files I were taking out of both of the folders and putting in the Game/Bin were exactly the same:



I don't know if this has anything to do with anything, but it seemed weird to me.  I would appreciate any and all help with this problem, I am very eager to play Island Paradise!

Well yeah, that is normal.
One is the cracked version of the other, which will enable you to play!

Is it supposed to replace it, though?  That kind of seems contradictary that you have to do it twice?  Idk...maybe I'm just being weird. 

No, if you just installed it you only need the files from the Crack folder. The others are here if you want to update your game...

So if I just put the Crack files in there, do you think that would help?

I had the exact same problem... What I did to make it work was I deleted the my documents/ electronic/ sims 3 folder. BUT before you do that make sure you move your cc and mods and saves if you want to keep them. I have ccmagic so it puts the cc in its own folder and my saves if it meant fixing the problem I didnt mind them getting deleted. After I did that I started the game from TS3W. exe in the program files cause i figured starting from the launcher was the issue.

I removed all of my saves and .sims3packs and was able to get the game to work for an hour before it crashed randomly.  but now i have no cc and it sucks.  i would have thought that .sims3packs would work but i can't get the game past the black screen with them installed.  :/  i know other people who are still able to play with all of their cc and it's really frustrating...i hope there's a solution.  please any suggestions?

What you can do is install ccmagic it helps manage your cc. It will also show you if there is missing cc or bad cc after you find them you can disable them from the game and that way you dont have to remove your cc. Or you can just add the cc and see if it works if it does not then place them somewhere else and add little by little see what causes the problem. The mods you would still have to update. All the package files (if you have any) make sure you update them before putting them into your game. When you play let me know if it crashes. I would just add the sim3packs to your game see if it still works and just keep out the saved games if it does not work it could be something in the Sims3 folder itself.

Here's what worked for me, after trying everything. I did everything that's been suggested, including deleting my Sims 3 folder all together and starting new. That worked, but I didn't want to play CC and Mod free. What I found is if you go through The Sims 3 Folder located in the EA folder in your documents, go to the savedsims folder, then delete the file downloadedsims.index, that it worked for me. I don't know if this will work for everyone, but I'd give it a shot.

A girl I know told me to delete the .tmp files in the DCCache folder and said they were the cause of the black screen and told me to not use the launcher but TS3W.exe so I deleted the files, put my CC back in, and loaded the game with the TS3W.exe.  The game starts up and I can create a household, but when I get to the screen where you edit relationships before starting to play, it freezes and I have to re-start my computer.  I also can't save any Sims I make.  I am so beyond frustrated at this point, EA really screwed us all over with this new update.  :/

 It's possible that your custom content is the reason for your problem. Move it from the folder to wherever you want like desktop. Run the game without custom content and see if that's the reason for the black screen. Update your driver for your graphics card and there is a slight chance that your ram and graphics card can't handle everything youve installed.

How many extensions and accessory packages do you have installed?
How much is your Ram memory? Do you have a chip as graphics card or an actual graphic card?
Do you play on pc or laptop?
Windows or mac?
which versions are you running?
