Registry issuess (about language). [SOLVED]
Hi again, the previous time I installed sims I had asked whether it was possible to change the language (https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t7445-change-languange-possible-solved)
I tried doing the same now for the expansions I have installed and.. there is practically nothing to be edited.
No country showing, no SKU no nothing.
All expansions including base game all show :
Also, each directory has a "ergc" under it :
And all of these ergc show something like this : which I figure is the serial code for each expansion.
Now these only mean 1 thing to me and that is that I messed up!
Any ideas?

Hello,
What do you see if you click on the folders with the names of the expansions ? This means, don't click on "ergc".
So if you for example click on "The Sims 3 Island Paradise", you should see an entry called "Locale". Double-click on it and change the value to el-GR. (Greek) And do that with the base game and all expansions you installed.
And normally, that should do, but please let us know.
//EDIT
If there is really nothing there, what language shows up in your game ? If you really want to change it, you may have to re-install everything again, and choose the right language from the beginning...

Dear Carlos, like I said above ALL expansions and base game show the same thing.
No Locale no country showing and no SKU either, only that 1 line and nothing else.

Alright, I just wanted to be 100% sure I understood you correctly. But like I said then, if you really want to change the language, then you might have to re-install all the games, and choose your preferred language then (unless someone else has a better idea).

The reason why they were not shown is that you didn't run the registry editor as administrator. This sometimes happens to me too, when the pop-up asking you to run as administrator disappears.

If THAT is really the problem..then I haven't thought about it - because I changed my "User account type" long ago already. So basically everything I do on my computer is done with Admin privileges.
To avoid future complications, open the "Start" menu, then go to Control panel/User accounts/User accounts/Change your account type and then choose "Administrator". And normally that should do.
//EDIT
Hm, I just ran the computer on another account, without Admin privileges. And the registry entries do show up with me, but maybe there are other reasons for that problem here...

I had this problem previously without pop-ups. But when I chose to run it as administrator, the locale and the country did show up.Carlos G. wrote:Hm, I just ran the computer on another account, without Admin privileges. You can actually turn off these "pop-ups". Control panel/User accounts/User accounts/Change User account control settings. Then choose "never notify me"; don't know if that's what you mean though.
But whether you actually get these "pop-ups" or not, you can still run the computer on an Admin account; these things seem to be independent of each other.

Hey there,
I think you have gone through the wrong registry. You should
go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SOFTWARE >> Sims if your pc is 32-bit. Don't expand the folder Electronic Arts!
go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SOFTWARE >> Wow6432Node >> Sims if your pc is 64-bit. Again not the folder "Electronic Arts".

Re: Registry issuess (about language). [SOLVED]
Thank you again for your assistance, my Game and all the expansions are in English.
For some weird reason when I edit the locale REG_SZ to en-UK my game kept crashing.
So I had to use the en-US instead . Not that I mind I just found it weird.

Just for the record, this is in so far interesting as there is no "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SOFTWARE >> Sims" location, if you have a 64-bit system, actually. There is only the "Wow6432Node"-thing...
But it's good that the topic creator still managed to solve the problem in the end.
