Sims 3 won't start up

I have downloaded and applied the latest ultimate fix, but now when I launch the game I just get a black screen and when I open up task manager it says that The Sims 3 is not responding. Any idea what could be causing this?

A few questions:
Is your game updated to latest version(vr. 1.67)?
Do you get any error when the black screen pops up?

Can you go to MyDocuments/ElectronicArts/TheSims3 and rename TheSims3 to anything you want and then start the game...
This will start your game without any mods/cc or anything like that...

Yes it is the latest version. No error messages, just black screen. Tried re naming the folder you mentioned and that still did not fix the issue.
