To-do Empty To-do

Post by Admin Fri 14 Feb 2014, 22:41

Hello all,

So, I'll have more time to do stuff this week. There are some things I have to catch up with, so here's my to-do list so far. If you have anything to add, just post in this topic!

- Find a Forum "theme" for next week. (Like the Old Dublin theme we had recently. SUGGESTIONS NEEDED! I was thinking about a Chinese theme or something, don't ask me why)
- Re-check Ultimate Fix and test files.
- Download Server. (Preferably want to FINISH it this week)
- Special ranks requirements.
- Facebook Division cleanup. (Send PM)
- New written Rules for special ranks.

Feel free to post here if you have any suggestions!

Hello,

So I downloaded the Ultimate ifxes from all sources (PC/MAC - Download server/MEGA), and all #crack-files show the following date of modification: 25-01-2014. I'm not sure if that's what you want to hear (I haven't re-tested them, but the date of modification should be enough ?). The same goes for the install instructions: all show the same date. I'm also playing with this new 1.67 game version (+ Ultimate fix) - with no issues so far.

About the download server: how about focussing (for now) on those months which contain these "premium store items" ? The n00bs keep pressing all the time (both on the forum and on the FB page) on that, so it might be an idea to focus on these first. Of course, if you have the time, then finish the site completely...I don't mind Razz

About the forum theme...I don't know, I'm not creative enough right now (lol). Sad  Maybe I'll try and come up with suggestions...

Admin meant the files in the Ultimate Fix other than the # Crack. If you test them, you will realise that you cannot update the game via the launcher with these files anymore, and will only get "Invalid File Found". Of course, you can argue that people should download the manual patch, but a lot of people tend to stick with the Ultimate Fix installation guide, which is why I formally requested Admin to simplify the Installation Guide and delete the unnecessary file.

I am not sure about Chinese theme, although I am a Chinese myself. Well, maybe a theme for Lantern Festival? Razz

Go ahead then...

I guess you'll now have to take all the original .exe files, of the 1.66 version (base game + expansions), and put them in the right places before you can update with the launcher to 1.67 ? The .exe files you had to put in used to be quite old; so maybe you'll now have to take all original files from your current game version.

And I also have to say I'm not too dazzled about this whole "theme week" idea..yes, of course it's nice to have different changing pictures on the main site, but let's see.

Hi there,

Yes, I meant checking the "original files".
Also, as for the Download Server... the idea is to actually finish it this time. Razz

Well, if you think you can finish everything at once, go ahead.  Very Happy  Razz

I was thinking about a "money/anti-money" related-theme, that could be used sometime; with pictures saying something like

Expensive games/DLC ? Not at G4TW ! OK, that particular example sounds a bit ridiculous, but you get the idea. However, I still have to think what pictures could be used exactly for that theme. Sad  Also, should there be a song for each theme ?

Sounds good to me! We could use the DLC banner we had up a while back. About DLCs actually adding something back then. Nowadays it's just a part of the game that should've already been in the base game.

Song is not mandatory, but it's nice, since those two create the ambiance.

Post by Admin Wed 19 Feb 2014, 19:02

Little update...

I've finally finished what I wanted to finish: the project file (not the website itself) for the Download Server has been reduced from 1,2GB+ to about 40MB. :PHuge difference, almost crash-free.

Anyway, the website files have also been reduced, to about 50-60MB in total. (Downloads not included)
Also, I've finished the Store Updates for 2013 yesterday evening/this morning. February and one or two other months are still missing, but I do not have the descriptions/pictures for those (yet).

I'll finish the other years either this evening or tomorrow. Stay tuned! Wink

Ps. Do you guys mind "testing" the new 2013 months and let me know if there are any problems/typo's? Thanks!

Alright then; after looking through 2013, here's what I found:

January 2013:

you wrote "tot" ? I guess you mean "toddler" ? Also, you referred to the toddler in the description as "he". You might want to add he/she and him/her, but that's a suggestion.

August 2013:

-About the items... Industrial Kitchen SET: it's called crème de LA crème. Very Happy

-"look the part" ? do you really say that ? Razz

September 2013:

-Cow Settlement Set: the short description at top has a different font than the other items

October 2013:

-Savvy Sellers collection download link not working.

In general, if a download shows a long list of codes, you'll have to choose "save target as...". This is the case where you download the .sims3packs "directly". However, you don't seem to get this code page whenever you download .RARs.

But overall it's a very good work ! Congrats to Lori and Admin ! Very Happy

I'm sorry for the theme, but I'm still thinking about possible pictures Sad

But I have two possible songs.. Razz

And this one here, while not "directly" related to money, it still refers to it in the lyrics:

OK, I guess these suggestions are not that good probably, but I'll try coming up with something else too.

Thank you for those, I've fixed all of them!

LOL, did you literally read everything? I was more talking about things like not working links or layout issues. Because I don't write the item descriptions. The volunteers (In this case Lori) send them over to me and I put them online. So the typo's are actually made by EA. Razz
As for the "tot", I fixed that one too, but I think they did that on purpose, not sure though. The "del le crème" was a painful mistake by whoever wrote that description.  Facepalm

As for the .Sims3Packs not downloading correctly like the .RAR files, that's most likely caused by a browser incompatibility. (In this case Mozilla Firefox) It doesn't know how to handle the .Sims3Pack files. Chrome seems to be working just fine, in my case. Maybe they'll patch that in the future. (Or we can contact them about th...- nevermind, just did that. Not sure if they'll ever read it, but we'll see)

Thanks again, and keep the feedback coming!
