Connecting to the Gallery in The Sims 4. [OBSOLETE] Empty Connecting to the Gallery in The Sims 4. [OBSOLETE]

Post by Guest Tue 28 Oct 2014, 01:10

ANNOUNCEMENT: This Guide is obsolete now. Origin's latest patch blocks the game if it is open in the background. Thanks to this, the Gallery cannot be accessed anymore from our version of The Sims 4.

If you close Origin, then the game will open normally but without any Online functionality. All of the content that you had previously downloaded will still be available in 'My Library' and will not be deleted. These downloads' files are found in the Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Tray folder, if you want to back it up just in case.

You can still get content from other sources different from the Gallery, following this other Guide here:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t18175-how-to-install-custom-content-in-ts4-package-files-script-mods-custom-sims-lots-updated-on-21-03-2015#

Apologies for any inconveniences.

Hi everyone!

We just wanted to let you know that you indeed can connect to the Gallery in the Games4theworld release of the game, at least for the moment. But it has some aspects that should be considered about it, so in this guide I'll try to explain them as best as I can.

You need Origin to be able to go online. If you don't have it, you can download it from here:

https://www.origin.com/en-us/download

After you log in to your Origin account and leave Origin running in the background, you should see this (or some other variations) at the banner in the bottom of the Start Screen if you are properly Online:

Otherwise, you'll see the usual "You are Offline" message, or it will be blank. If you do get one of these two, it probably means that you left Origin in Offline mode, or that Online Access is disabled in the game options. To enable it, open the Game Options in the menu and enter the Other tab. It will look like this:

Make sure that Online Access is checked. As a personal recommendation, you may want to uncheck the Share User Data. Here, you can enable or disable the Online Notifications or the Auto-Reconnect too.

If you are getting the "You are Offline" banner, open the Gallery by clicking on the icon at the top right of the screen, or by pressing F4 on your keyboard. Go to the 'Community' tab and you should see this:

Now, check that at your username is located at the top right. If it's showing RLD! instead, it doesn't matter how much you wait after clicking "Connect", the Gallery will never load. You need to make sure Origin is running on the background. If it's your username at the top right, then click "Connect", let it load for a few seconds and you will be successfully connected to the Gallery.

If you get a 'Could not Connect' error, something you can try is this: download the Create-a-Sim Demo from Origin, using the account that you are using to connect to the Gallery. Open the CAS Demo, and get in the Gallery there. It should let you connect just fine. Then, close the Demo and open The Sims 4. Try getting into the Gallery now. This seems to fix the issue for some users that got it.

Now you can save Households, Sims, Lots and Rooms to your Library. All of the content you add to your Library will be saved as files in the C:\Users\[NAME]\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Tray folder, so if you want to backup all that you have downloaded you should be able to do that by copying the complete folder to another location. We still don't know how the files inside this folder work, and it seems that there are several for each content you download, so your best bet is backing up all of it.

This also means that you can access all of the content you save if you go Offline in the crack again, by closing Origin in the background.

I downloaded some content to show you that they will stay in your Library even if you log off. Notice the username at the top right of the image. If you have this same username (RLD!), it means that you are Offline in the crack. In other words, you aren't logged into Origin, or it's closed. If this username is showing, then you won't be able to connect to the Gallery, but you will have all of the DLC (including the Holiday Celebration Pack, the Outdoor Retreat Game Pack and TS3 rewards) that come with our release.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE ON THE DLC AND GAME PACKS:

All of the Game Packs and DLC content that comes with our version of the game (and all of the TS3 rewards) are only accessible in the Offline mode. This is because all of those are tied to your Origin account. So, if you enter a Save while Origin is running on the background, they will be removed from the Game. If you go into a World that used any DLC or Game Packs content at any point while Online you will get the following message:

You will also notice that the Granite Falls world will be removed from the options in the top left:

If you save after you get this message, all of the DLC objects that were once placed in any Lot will be permanently removed, and the Game Data on Granite Falls may be removed as well. Because of this, if you want to enter a Save and play the Game normally, then make sure that Origin is completely closed. Leaving Origin in Offline Mode (before you start the game or after) won't work! The DLC will still be removed. So, Origin needs to be closed (check in the Notification Area or System Tray, too). This will guarantee that all of DLC can be accessed normally, and that there won't be any problems with it.

If you accidentally enter a Save while Origin is running, then click on the Options at the top right and select "Exit to Main Menu" or "Exit Game" without saving. This is the option you need to choose:

So, how do I access the Gallery then?

If you want to download things from the Gallery, then you need to make sure to access it only from the Main Menu. That is, this screen right here:

You can click on the Gallery button at the bar in the top right, or click F4, and get into the Gallery normally. Download everything you want (they will remain in your game even if you log off and close Origin), and then exit the game, close Origin, and enter the game again. Doing this won't cause any problems in your Saves, as you didn't enter any of them.

Oh, and if you want to download anything that contains content from DLC or Game Packs, then you need to turn on an option inside of the Gallery. Here:

The Downloads marked with the Golden Ribbon, contain content from any of the DLC in the game. If you want these to appear to you, then you need to have the "Include Unowned Content" option activated inside the Advanced tab. This is because, technically, you don't own any of the DLC, so the items will be excluded from the list.

That's it for now. Keep in mind that this guide may change in the future, and it only reflects The Sims 4 as it stands right now. We can't vouch for the availability of this feature in future patches. With that considered, have fun!

DO NOT POST ANY QUESTIONS/PROBLEMS IN THIS TOPIC, BUT OPEN A NEW TOPIC FOR IT IN THIS FORUM: The Sims 4 in-game Support! ALL COMMENTS POSTED ABOUT QUESTIONS/PROBLEMS HERE WILL BE DELETED!

Update: This Guide is now outdated. Accessing the Gallery from our version of the game is no longer possible in the moment. Any more info please refer to the post.

Mod edit: topic closed. For the moment, I will leave it as a "Sticky" though. Smile
