"My Sims" won't run. [SOLVED]
As per the title.
I had a look at the "a-required-security-module-cannot-be-activated-this-program-cannot-be-executed-7000" fix and did everything it said, but still nothing.
I'm not too surprised by that as that particular error didn't come up. Just the box saying "MySims(TM) has stopped working" with the option to close the programme or check online for a fix. (I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, btw.)
I've tried reinstalling it a few times - first I put it on a different drive than C, then I uninstalled that and tried it on drive C but the same problem exists.
One thing I did notice during installation was that the option to download the EA manager didn't come up for me, even though I wouldn't have downloaded it in the first place. Not sure if that's a pointer to the problem.
Any help gratefully received.

Hi there,
Maybe the pop-up didn't come up, because you already have the EA Download Manager installer. (It's called "Origin" nowadays)
Can you try running the game as an Administrator, please?

Re: "My Sims" won't run. [SOLVED]
First thing I tried (running as Admin). No joy.
But I exercised my Google skills and solved the problem myself.
The first line says: Problem Event Name: BEX.
So I researched that and found out it was a buffer overflow problem and the solution which fixed it for me was this:
Right click on your computer icon and select Properties.
On the left, go to Advanced system settings.
Go to the Advanced tab.
Choose the top option (Performance) and click Settings.
Go to the Data Execution Prevention tab and add the mysims.exe to the list.
I ran the game after that (no reboot) and it works fine.
Hopefully this might help others with a similar problem.
Thanks for the chance to play this, btw. It looks like fun.
P.S. Just a reminder for anyone reading this, I'm running Windows 7.

Hi again,
Thank you very much for sharing your fix with us, it'll definitely help people in the future!
DEP caused problems for some people with The Sims 3 too. I'll create a "Fix" topic for your suggestion, for future reference.
Thanks again, and enjoy the game!
//EDIT
See here.

Hello,
Another possibility might be to turn off DEP "completely", with the help of the command prompt. See part 2, of this guide here:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t21728-the-sims-4-crashes-freezes-causes-shutdowns-possible-fixes-updated-on-17-12-2015
Although it was written for The Sims 4, the principle applies to all games/software. I myself did it, and I can't even remember the last time any game crashed on me...
But adding the .exe's manually to the DEP exclusions works just as well.
