Installing sims 4 question.
I have installed and played Sims 4 and sims 3 various times on various computers using games4theworld. I should be a pro at this by now, but it's been a couple years, and I think I need the cobwebs cleared.
First of all, do you need to install every expansion (Sims 4) to get the game to work? I'm down to just the Parenthood expansion left, and I am still getting the Orgin error. If it's open, it says it needs to be closed, and if it's closed, it says it needs to be open.
I guess we can start from there.

Re: Installing sims 4 question.
1. With downloaded games Origin must never be active on your computer.
2. Your anti-virus must not de-activate the cracks like rld.dll, RldOrigin.dll in your Game\Bin folder. You still see them in that folder but cannot be accessed by the program.
3. Whenever possible use TS4_x64.exe and not the pre-fabricated shortcut to start your game on a 64-bits windows machine.

I deleted my anti-virus just to download and install these. I remembered the Dll error haha. I'm not having that, just the orgin error. Should I just uninstal orgin, or do you think I need to start all the way over?Tarac wrote:1. With downloaded games Origin must never be active on your computer.

Re: Installing sims 4 question.
I suggest you download Parenthood as well and use the new Game folder to start The Sims 4.

Alright. I'll install that tonight. I have to get to work.Tarac wrote:I suggest you download Parenthood as well and use the new Game folder to start The Sims 4.
If that doesn't work, I'll start over.
Lil tedious that you need literally every exspansion just to make it run.
It's free though, it's free. haha.
Thank you, I'll let you guys know what happens.

As an expiriment I just did the following:chrisshane09 wrote:Alright. I'll install that tonight. I have to get to work.Tarac wrote:I suggest you download Parenthood as well and use the new Game folder to start The Sims 4.

1. Install base game
2. Install Toddlers, Vampires
3. Install Parenthood.
Works perfectly, but of course I miss Get To Work, Get Together, Outdoor Living, Dine Out, City Living and a lot of SP's.
This proves that you do not have to install all DLC's
EDIT:
It only works without problems when you already have a full and complete version of all DLC's in your folder Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4

Re: Installing sims 4 question.
I uninstalled everything and started over. Installed sims 4, vampire- tod, and parenthood. Now I'm getting the "contents of the user directory were created with a newer version." I updated it using the update, says my game is up to date. Orgin is nowhere on my laptop.Tarac wrote:As an expiriment I just did the following:chrisshane09 wrote:Alright. I'll install that tonight. Re: Installing sims 4 question.
You updated without Origin ?
Anyway, all you have to do is go to Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 and delete the file GameVersion.
