So lets talk VPN.
I wanna know which VPNs are worth using. My ISP has been really snoopy and seems to catch me whenever i try to torrent something. >.<
So do the vpns actually prevent you from getting caught? If so how often do they fail to hide you, if at all?

Hello,
On a general level, there is another discussion thread about specific VPN providers:
https://www.games4theworld.club/t32958-best-vpn-services
The better VPN services have DNS leak & Killswitch functionalities. The former means that in any connection, your IP basically stays obscured, while the latter is a safety catch for the event that the VPN provider has issues. So the Killswitch basically interrupts your entire internet connection if the VPN provider has issues (I heard some unfortunate stories from people who chose *not so good services*, torrented something, left the house, and while they were gone the computer downloaded through their regular home connection).
VPNs scramble & obscure your internet traffic, so that your ISP basically only knows the amount of data that you torrented (in any given time period).
To a large extent it boils down to choosing the right service. I myself have been using ProtonVPN lately.
It's also worth noting the jurisdisctions in which the VPN service itself is located, plus the servers it operates. While I couldn't say whether it really makes a big difference, choose a country to connect to, in a VPN, that's basically not the USA or one of its vassals such as the UK, France or Germany.
I think investing in a good VPN service is worth the money, however unfortunate it is, that it has seemingly become a necessity at all.
