Question about expansions Empty Question about expansions

Post by Guest Mon 18 Jun 2012, 15:53

hello again.. Very Happy

so.. I downloaded the sims3 and townstuff about a month ago and everything is working fine.. I've been playing ever since.. Very Happy

but sunset valley is getting a bit boring... so I did research on what expansions come with what towns and I wanna play the nightlife town and the pets town... my brother downloaded and installed nightlife and its working perfectly (although it did delete his townlife stuff.. I don't know why) and as he was playing, I saw that to play in the new town, he had to start a new game...

now, in the sims3, I have 2 sons and a daughter and I wanna send them off to other towns to start fresh and "fulfill their dream"....
What he said.
I wanna send the two boys to the pets town and the girl to the nightlife town... so my stupid question is...

Is there a way to somehow link the 3 towns? or maybe link the 3 savefiles? Like, I wanna save my daughter in the bin and play her in the nightlife town, and when she gets to adulthood, let her visit her parents in sunset valley or her brothers in the pets town... is that possible?

(I don't know if this thread is in the right category... I apologize if its not)

The only way I know of to do anything like that is to use Twallan's traveler mod. It takes a while though, because you'd have to travel to those towns, get a visa level 3, buy a vacation home, then eventually move there. Sometimes the travelling to non-premade vacation worlds can also erase all the lots for the visit, so it's even more difficult.
This is the link to the mod.

Thanks for the tip...

but the fact that it has a risk of deleting all the lots in the visited town... its too big of a risk to take... I made A LOT of changes in sunset valley (and I mean A LOT! I remade almost all of the houses and turned them into modern houses) and I just don't wanna risk having to start all over again...

so, I guess I'm gonna have to scratch this idea... Rolling Eyes

New question... In world adventures...

Is it possible to send a sim off to the other vacation-able towns and let them live and work there? and if it is, do the other sims in the other towns continue to progress? like aging and stuff....

and tag question... I control 5 sims in sunset valley.. If I send one of em to Egypt for example, and another one to china, which sim in which town do I get to control?

It doesn't erase the lots in their home town, but in the one that they're visiting. This is because they don't have any base camp specified lots, and the game doesn't know how to react to it.

It actually isn't possible unless they get a level 3 visa, which takes a while. Then, I'm not entirely sure because I've never gotten to that point, but I don't think you can move there without Twallan's mod.

You can only send one group on vacation at a time. Say you send one to Egypt for 3 days. They'll be on vacation in Egypt with you controlling them until either the vacation time is up, or you send them home. Once they get home, no time will have passed from the time they left. No age differences, no missed work, nothing. Now that sim has to wait at least 2 days before they can go on vacation again, but you can send a different sim, or multiple other sims to whatever vacation town you'd like, be it back to Egypt, or to one of the others you have.

It's not a problem. Do you have any more questions or issues right now?
