Error during startup

I am getting the error during startup message now. My game was working fine until yesterday, all of the sudden when using the launcher I get the error message, and when loading from ts3 in the bin
folder it freezes on load screen, may be a registry error but I have no clue on how to fix it, as I have read in other posts before I delete and reinstall I figured I ask here first, im not sure y its acting up brcause it was just working fine. Please help. I am so bored without my sims, because it gives me peace of mind when I have to be home. Anything you suggest will be appreciated, and Lady Eldi thanks so much for your help come to find out I NEEDED GLASSES. LML!

I read in another post that from someone who had the same problem to rename tje sims 3 folder I did and now the game loaded fine my new problem now is nothing that In my old gamr shows up in the game now so how do I go about fixing that problem without having to reinstall everything do I
merge the two folders?

I watched the video and followed the instuctions but all of my expansions packs are installed. So I did not delete any registry keys.I have all expansions installed and stuff packs including deisel stuff pack, so im not sure what if anything I was supposed to delete so when I when I ran the launcher again I still got the error message. So Admin I ask you what is the next step. Thanks in advance!!

I also tried running the game from the TS3 file in the bin folder and it gets to the load screen an freezes.

Let's see, did you move the game's folders or rename them?

No I didnt do anything but what you told me because Id rather do it right by following your instructions to the letter! I tries to run it out of the bin folder but it freezes on loading screen.

I did rename the folder and once I saw that it did work but I had no content I changed everything back. But I never merged or moved any of the folders.

If you get the "Error during startup." error when you try to run the launcher, the .exe files won't work either.

Im not sure what happened but after not playing my game for two days the launcher did load but when I got to the world menu it tells me that the world that I was playing in is not available because it was created with an expansion that is no longer installed, but I have not removed any of my expansion packs. I also always backup a copy of my saves folder, so when I tried to put that folder in the game it went back to freezing during the load screen so do you think that it may be the files inside of the saves that is screwing up game play? Because the older one was working fine up until the 29th of this month.

Hello,

I once experienced a stuffpack becoming corrupted myself. It wasn't quite as big a problem and I didn't notice until I ran the patch downloader.
Please open your launcher and check all the icons at the bottom, are all of them lit up (the ones you have installed)?
If they are, hover your mouse pointer over each one, I think you'll find one of them at patch level 0.0.0.0. I think it'll be an expansion, not a stuffpack. Since a missing stuffpack would only result in a message about some items that had to be replaced.
Once you've identified the one with the problem, uninstall it, restart the pc, run a registry cleaner if you want to be safe, and reinstall it. That should do it.

The game was working until today I don't know what happened. I removed all the saved data out of the saves folder because I thought that it was corrupted and it was because as soon as I started a new game I had no problem. I saved the game an restarted the computer now the game again does not work. It keeps a black screen and when it is supposed to be at the diesel screen it stays black but an arrow appears, and when I lower the game to view the task manager it then tells me the game is not responding. Any Help! I am running a registry cleaner now Ill let you know what happens. My launcher opened and all of my expansions and stuff packs all have the right number from 1 to 14.

I seem to be having a similar but not identical problem to you, and instead of going to EA directly, because they're useless, I've decided to come here! I've used regedit to delete the leftover files, uninstalled and reinstalled the game MULTIPLE times, been sitting in front of my laptop all day trying to find out how to fix it!! It's still displaying the error message when I open the Launcher, and won't open the game without the Launcher. I've not had the Sims on my laptop for months because I was waiting for a day off to sit here and try to fix it, busy busy!!
Seriously though, I'm driving myself crazy here, if you guys know of any other way it could be fixed I would be eternally grateful!!

Lady Eldi it is hard for me to catch him having 7 kids running through my house, and since this is my last week off until they go back to school here, I just figure I will rename the sims 3 folder then remove it after the game make another and then reinstall all the cc and mods I have from scratch. Then begin again, Im first going to try running the game removing the saves folder because truthfully that is where Im thinking the problem lies, If not Ill start from scratch. Ill be able to work pretty fast being that the older ones are here to keep an eye on the younger ones! I will definetly let you guys know how I make out, and you may consider this topic closed. If I have any problems ster this I will be sure to come back and let you kno. The reg cleaner did not work by the way. But thank you for all you guys help this is truly one of the best sims forums I have joined.

so i installed everything correctly, and all the patches are up to date, as well as all the cracks in their proper places, but when i start up the game it gives me "unkwon error" and i tried installing the fix but nothing is working. i have a mac, i feel so stupid right now. can someone please help?

Also, sometimes the game won't even pop up. like i click the icon but nothing happens at all. i'm totally lost.
