Question about Mods.
(Just hope I am right... Mods are hair/clothes/shoes/etc right?)
So I've had A LOT of trouble with the Sims 3 after adding a few expansions. The only one I had for a while was the Pets & it worked fine. A few mods didn't show up & I am guessing because I needed specific expansions for it & didn't realize that when downloading.. but anyway. What I did was add Seasons & Ambitions first, launching the game after each installation & coming up to the main menu, then I went for Fast Lane which... completely mucked up my game. It came up with an error at the launch screen & would close out, not allowing me to hit the play button. So I uninstalled that, & put the stuff in the "Crack #" folder from Seasons into the Sims 3/Game/Bin folder, which allowed it to launch again. However, when trying to see what stuff I can get from those 2 expansions (Seasons & Ambitions) by loading a family I previously had, the game would load the family for maybe a minute, music would stop for 30 seconds, then start music again & the whole game would crash. I couldn't figure out why this was happening, & so I decided to delete the Sims 3 folder from Documents/Electronic Arts & that allowed me to make a family.. However, A LOT of my mods were messing up. Sometimes they were all brown, including clothes & missing feet, or they were missing their entire body, etc. Just a bunch of different glitches that I couldn't understand why was happening since it hadn't before.. But I just chose to ignore it, complete the family, move them in to a house but when I tried the build option, it would just freeze. I could move the mouse, click on tabs, but the whole build tabs were not loading & when I clicked the Living Mode nothing would happen. I looked on here for answers, found the "Fix" thread & did all that I was told, & now the game is working perfectly. I added my "Mods" folder back & those work, too. However, I have yet to add the content that you have to "install" into the game if you will? I'm not sure what those were called, but you click on them, they install & you can see them in the "Downloads" tab in the launcher.
So my question is, could I reinstall those mods? Or would it mess up my game ?
Also, what if I put back my previous families from before the mess up, would those work again fine ?
I'm just really worried about messing up the game after spending a crap load of frustrating hours trying to fix it.

Re: Question about Mods.
To answer the first question, mods are user created modifications to the game, that change actions, or that do any of the things that Twallan does at NRaas does. All the hair/clothing/objects/etc are cc (custom content). Mods basically just have to be kept up-to-date (and periodically checked for conflicts), whereas cc can be downloaded already corrupt or just having issues, especially if it's from the sims 3 exchange.
If you do decide to re-add the cc to your game, I'd recommend doing so in small groups, like 10 or so, and test the game each time you install more. That way if there is a problem, you can find and remove the problematic piece(s) more easily. I'd also recommend being sure to only download from trusted sources, my personal favorite is modthesims.info

I figured I was wrong lol, sorry, but thanks to clearing that up & sorry about putting the topic in wrong area. & I thought I was wrong about calling it mods. I downloaded my custom content mainly from The Sims Resource & never had a problem before, but after putting in more expansions they just went hay wire. But I will try adding just a few at a time & see if that will work, thank you. ^_^

Re: Question about Mods.
Oh it's ok. No harm, no foul.
TSR is usually pretty reliable, but there are a few older pieces on there that just get left alone, and may be incompatible with some of the newer expansions. I hope you can find the piece that's causing issues, or that a fresh install of the cc will make them work properly for you. Please let us know how it all goes
