sim city 5
well i was waiting for this game to become available for download here, but i couldn't wait any longer so i went and purchased the game. i wasn't sure if the game would be worth the money because so many people said how bad it was, but i needed to find out myself so i bought it. i'm not sure why so many people say it's so bad because it's awesome. to me it seems very user friendly, as it is easier to zone and place roads than 4 was. i know a lot of people were concerned about it being an online only game but it really doesn't make difference to me. i would absolutely recommend buying it if you don't want to wait for it to be cracked. i was so hoping that it would be available to download on here because i downloaded all my sims 3 packs and i saved well over 200.00 doing so which was totally awesome. i'm sure that they will be able to crack as then can pretty much crack anything so if you don;t want to spend 60.00 on it then wait for them to do so. but all in all i LOVE this game!!

Re: sim city 5
Honestly, while I do not like the business model EA has adopted with the DRM stuff.. I do enjoy the Simcity franchise, I would be willing to give my money to the NAME. As shallow as that is, because the name means nothing. I still feel as if I might owe Simcity my $60.. With that said, I cannot afford to buy it. Which saddens me deeply. (lol, mostly 'cause I want to play SO DAMN BAD!) However I did get to play the 2 betas, So I guess that should be enough for me huh? BUT ALAS IT IS NOT!
Play it for me!
Play it for me!

Know what's the most important quality of a game? To be playable. SimCity successfully failed in that department, so...

Re: sim city 5
Thing is, Everybody is mad because EA didn't manage to hold everyone at the first day of release, look at Diablo III. To strengthen their argument they used the DRM as well. Now, a time later, EA improved and tweaked the game a bit and now its running smooth for now. But we'll see, will Maxis conquer this bully called EA, remove the DRM, make an offline mode for the fans, or does he stay in EA's shadow...

Re: sim city 5
Umm... I think the reason why the game runs better is that a lot of people rage quit and stopped playing :-/

I had half a mind to pre-order it, but the other half reminded me that it's an EA Origin game, and it would be a bad idea to even buy it. The first half now understands why.

No need to pre-order, it's been out since March 5th.

Re: sim city 5
i wouldent touch anything from EA with a barge pole ea doesent even produce any solid games battlefield 3 is buggy and broken deadspace 3 has IAP
sim city from what i heard has been ruined
most of the opinion i have seen that launched complaint against the game were given a free copy of battlefield 3 or deadspace 3 some people would say thats fair but im a firm believer in recieving what you paid for and if i complained about a game only to be offered a free copy of another game well that EA trying to swweten us up by selling a broken game and then giving people a game they dident even want
if EA wants to apologise to me they will disband the company and give maxis free reign to cotinue the only good franchises to ever come from that jke of a company

- Long post:
I was one of the few people to pre-order Sim City on the 5th. It was my birthday present to myself, as the game was released on my birthday.
I had planned on waiting up to play it but midway through the 4th I received an email telling me the game was ready to play. Alright, sweet. Launch that digital deluxe and lets get this rolling.
Okay, managed to get in the game fairly quickly, played for a few good hours, got several decent cities going, even managed to get an almost purely industrial city to have a MASSIVE zombie outbreak. Wiped the entire population. I was rather enjoying myself.
Okay, its late, time to head to bed, sleep some, get up, only briefly check the web and notice some disgruntled waves. Don't care, got a new game with three cities (was in my own private region) to work on. Launch game, can't connect. Wonder why and check the web. Everyone be mad, only one or two servers world wide, to make the game work, devs release a patch that disables cheetah speed and several other features, one or two of which weren't even fully implemented yet (the regional trade/world market stuff). No effect other than to make the people who were even able to connect to the update servers even more mad, cheetah speed be useful.
Okay, try to wait patiently, for a week an unable to connect at all regardless of hour of day/night. After first week, give up, after second week, attempt to connect again, barely able to connect to update servers, barely able to connect to any server and load up my private region. So frustrating I can't just play single player on my own computer.
I lose connection to the servers quite frequently and am able to play for a period of twenty minutes without being connected to the server, internet cuts in and out randomly, so never have the full twenty minutes disconnected to the server.
Finally get tired of all the BS, I want my money back. Then find out that I'll have to dispute the order via the bank and if I try I'll be banned from Origin.
All EA/Maxis products will forever more have a dark stain in my eyes due to all of this BS. I recuse to pay EA/Maxis anything more for questionable products, if I want any of their games, I'll get them free.

I better get mah bow!
Such an odd ending.
Recently I've started playing Sim City again, mostly out of boredom and to see how it is since release. With a lot less drama and hassle, I'm able to get in-game and actually play, it appears that most of the features are enabled and working- the only problem I still have is the lies, poor preparation and ultimately no refund policy despite saying they'll let you ask for a refund.
Anyhow, it was shortly after I first posted that I saw I pretty much revived a dead topic.
oops.
Thanks for the welcome ya'll. :3
