Empty Clubs/Bars Fix Empty Empty Clubs/Bars Fix

Post by J.T. Wed 04 Dec 2013, 14:14

Warning: Please create a copy of the following file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Late Night\Game\Bin\GraphicRules.sgr and back it up before proceeding. One wrong step can cause catastrophic effect on your game, and if that really happens you can prevent the damage by placing the original copy back to its original location!

Hello everyone,

Warm Remainder: If your town is

(1) a town that consists of mostly the elderly children and teenagers that cannot go to bars/clubs
(2) a town where a lot of sims are congregating on a lot where they never leave.

Then this fix is not for you. this fix is for those whose towns' bars and clubs are empty regardless of removing the barriers.

Here are the steps you must follow:

1. Open the file DeviceConfig.log in My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3.
2. Under "Rating Info", you might see such a line:
GPU: 2 GPU Memory: 4 CPU: 1 RAM: 2 CPU Speed: 1895 Threading: 3

People might question what this is and how it is related. Good question! The numbers behind GPU, GPU memory and so on are ratings the game has given to your pc's hardware, ranging from 1-5 with 5 the highest and 1 the lowest.

As you can see CPU rating can have a dominating effect on the number of sims in a lot. If your CPU's rating is only 1, then I am sorry. That is hardware-related. Your weak CPU has made the game not to spawn any sims in the bars/clubs, making your bars/clubs empty.

If you've got only 1 or 2 in general, then this fix is designed for you!

3. Now right-click the file C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Late Night\Game\Bin\GraphicRules.sgr, and choose "Properties". In the Security tab, click on the button "Edit...". If your pc's user account has full control on it, then nothing should be altered. If your user account doesn't, please check the box "Full Control" and save the settings.

4. Now you can save the changes you have made to the file. Open the file, You can see something like this:

Before:

Change it to this:

After:

Save the file.

5. Now regardless of your cpu's quality, the game will start to spawn sims in the bar for you. You may exerience a drop in FPS if your processor can't handle them. Revert back or lower the values from 4s to 3s. Also, patches to the game will overwrite this file, so you'll have to do this again after a patch.

Have fun and let me know if this trick works.
