Crashes on loading screen to University Empty Crashes on loading screen to University

Post by Guest Sat 05 Jul 2014, 18:23

Hello!

I wanted to send my young adult to University, but then it crashes on the loading screen. After it loads a little bit, it crashes.

I have a lot of CC installed, pretty much every premium content they ever uploaded on the site.
Since I have that much, I wanted to try some different solutions before removing all of it just to reinstall those that doesn't cause problems.
I have everything installed in .sims3package files :s

So I went back to my saved game, and then did a reset of the whole town with masyercontroller. It made it load a tiny bit more in the loading screen, but then it crashes to desktop again.

Then I tried to start a whole new game, a new town a new Sim, and send her off to college. Bo problem, it loaded perfectly.
So it doesn't seem to be my CC that's the problem.
But then what is???

Hello,

Can you also try just saving your sim into the bin, in edit-town mode ? Then make a new save, put the sim into that save, and send her again to university. Also, although it might be far-fetched, can you ntry emptying the inventory of your sim completely, berfore sending her ?

Crashes on loading screen to University Empty Re: Crashes on loading screen to University

Alright, so I tried your solutions.

First, I tried to empty her inventory, and that made it load a little bit more, before crashing.
Then, I went back and tried to quit her job, reset her with nraas, empty her inventory and cancelling out her wishes
to go to University and go to France, since it keeps telling me that my Sims has a "future opportunity" or somethin0 (I play the game in Danish),
and it will disappear if I want my Sims to go to University. I really don't know what that's about??!

Then, I tried your other suggestion, about saving the family to the bin, choose a new town and let them move in
and send her to University again. And it worked. And this time, the message about the future opportunity didn't show.
So maybe that's what's wrong. Have you heard about it before?

I would hate if it's the town that's the problem, since I don't wanna start playing with a whole new family
when Sims 4 is being released in about 2 months :s

Hello,

Now have another  look at this other topic here and re-do all steps: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t857-the-sims-3-crashes-freezes-to-desktop-fix-updated-on-7-01-2014

But LEAVE OUT step #1, for now. If your Windows is a 64-bit version AND if your computer has 4 GB of RAM or more, then focus on step #3 in particular. Download the "4 GB patch" from here.

After downloading, double-click on that 4 GB patch and in the next prompt, choose the TS3W.exe in your base game location. Usually, that's C:\Program files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin. Wait for the message "executable successfully patched" and close the 4 GB patch.

Note that this method will not work if your Windows is a 32-bit version and/or if your computer has fewer  than 4 GB of RAM. After doing that, go on with the rest of the steps. These instructions should be pretty self-explanatory.

Now go to My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 and delete all contents inside the Currentgame.sims3 folder. Also, in My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3, delete the following stuff:

-CASPartCache.package
-compositorCache.package
-scriptCache.package
-simCompositorCache.package
-socialCache.package
-plus the contents of the folders "WorldCaches" & "Thumbnails"

Re-start the game then and see if anything improved. You may even turn off your anti-virus program completely before playing The Sims 3.

Good luck !

If you really did the steps correctly, then there isn't much left I'm afraid, but try this tool here in lady ElDi's opening post - and apply it to your savefile (make a backup before, though !):

https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t9396-ts3-save-files-cleaner

After you applied that save files cleaner, re-start the game and see if the same happens. If yes, try indeed playing in a new town with that sim (= what I suggested above).
