Applying Manual Patch

Hello! I'm at step two of "How to install The Sims 3 correctly." I've already installed The Sims 3, Generations, and the patch "To-9355-1.67.2.024002". I would like to know exactly how I apply the patch. Any help is appreciated!

Are you following the sticky post ? If so, you are following the PC version 
Here is a mac version : http://games4theworld.org/Guides/Sims_3_Mac_Guide.pdf
Your patch needs to have an extension .Sims3Pack - you just double click it and follow the instruction
