Ultimate Fix Infected? Empty Ultimate Fix Infected?

Post by Guest Thu 13 Nov 2014, 01:16

So I've downloaded the Sims 4 for both my computer and my boyfriend's, and everything was fine. The day after I get the fix so we can actually play it. The game is playable and all, and everything on my computer is fine, but ever since I got the fix on his computer, it keeps having pop-ups and his anti-virus detects so many malwares (that are not related to the game), programs were installed, and some other programs and games don't even work anymore.

I'm not sure why it didn't happen to me, maybe he just got unlucky, is he the only one, and are you 100% sure the website from which the fix was hosted is safe? I know TPB (where I downloaded the game itself from) is, and it exactly started as soon as the fix was applied to the game.

This is very frustrating because even after a clean sweep, malwares just keep popping and popping, so his computer is basically completely ruined ever since I got the fix on it.

Hello Kyzan and welcome,

If that was a philosopy seminar, I'd now say that the relationship between cause and effect is not alway what it seems to be. In your case this means: most likely the issue is NOT related to the Ultimate fix. Possible solutions are...

1) the other computer's anti-virus program is simply freaking out and should be un-installed.
2) or there is other malware. Which I actually suspect, since our fix doesn't install stuff that creates "pop-ups".

Sorry, but at this point, you can either do a proper anti-virus scan. Or, if that doesn't yield any results, un-install the anti-virus and re-apply the latest Ultimate fix on that other computer.

Good luck.

Ultimate Fix Infected? Empty Re: Ultimate Fix Infected?

I obviously know none of you intentionally put viruses in the fix, I'm more worried about the host of where it is streamed from. He and I have the same anti-virus and I proceeded to both installing and fixing our games. Anti-virus scan was done, and after getting rid of those malwares, more keep coming.

I'm not exactly blaming the fix, but given that nothing else was done on the computer other than that, I'm wondering if other users experienced the same problem.

Just because nothing was ACTIVELY done on the other computer, it doesn't have to mean there's no other possibility. There are numerous ways for virusses and malware to get into a computer. And no, the "hosts" we are using (MEGA and MediaFire) don't modify the files either.

And yes, you're actually the first person reporting this issue. If there really was a virus, wouldn't YOU have the same issues then too, especially if you appear to have the same anti-virus program ? Smile

You can try going into safe mode on the other computer, and re-doing a check with the anti-virus. To do that, press the Windows key + R, type msconfig into the search mask and hit enter.

Now you need to look for something called "Safe boot/mode" (can't tell the exact wording now, since I'm on my old laptop with Windows XP on it). But if you mark that option, you will be prompted to re-boot, which you should do. After the re-boot, do another anti-virus check.

I'm sort of a noob here, but if it were me,  I'd run an antivirus scan and find where the virus is originating first. Once you do that, you can usually eliminate the problem by fixing it with the anti virus software. Sounds like you've got a hassle on your hands!

I actually had this same issue, I installed the base game and everything was fine a few days later I decided to install the ultimate fix and a few hours later my laptop began to slow down significantly which it shouldn't do since there is a crap tonne of space, I also started getting pop ups despite having ad blocker installed.

Yesterday I did a scan and it came back saying I had 2 virus' within the Sims 4 fix folder so it deleted them and other effected files, I'm now unable to pay as the rdll (?) thing is missing.
I haven't yet tried to new ultimate fix(pools update) so I'l try that and see if I get the same result

Hi there! Smile

If you want us to try and help you, please create a new topic. And yes, those "virus" you deleted from the The Sims 4 folder aren't actually virus, but false-positives. And it's normal that the game can't start because the rld.dll is missing, you just deleted it. Razz

Anyway, we can continue this after you've created the new topic. Thanks!
