The Sims 1: The Complete Collection expansion packs keep loading forever - fix.
Hello everyone,
When you start up The Sims 1: The Complete Collection for the first time, all the expansion packs will be loaded. This will only happen once, unless you switch to another neighbourhood.
The loading can take up to a few hours on older computers. (To give you an idea: it took about 10 seconds on my high-end system, but used to take like an hour on my very old computer)
If it hasn't finished loading by then, force-close ([ALT] + [F4]) the game and try running the game's .exe file as an Administrator. If that didn't fix the issue either, try the steps below:
1. Completely close the game.
2. Navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\The Sims\
3. In this folder you'll see a bunch of folder. Remove the following folders if they are present: UserData, UserData0 and UserData1. One or more of these folders might not be present at all. DO NOT REMOVE ANY OTHER "UserData" FOLDER! (Also make a backup of the folders you're removing, because removing them might mess up your game. In that case you have to put the deleted files back in their original location)
4. If you start your game now, it should start loading the expansion packs again, but faster this time.
Good luck!
