Prison Architect.
Hi! I just wanted to make a request for the game Prison Architect. I noticed that someone had already requested it back in 2014, and wondered if i could help make the process easier for you guys? I have downloaded the game online myself and it is working quite smoothy, though it crashes occasionally and isn't updated (so it's nowhere near the standard of your quality). Does it make it easier for you if I somehow link my files to you, if you've been planning on making a download yourself? Thank you for your work.

Hello again,
One problem with those Steam-games is that due to the multitude of mini-updates that come through the Steam-client, the game would soon be outdated if we released a pirated version of it.
Or we do it like in Sims 4, and release a version of the game, and for future updates or DLC provide a type of "Ultimate fix" that is downloaded via MEGA or MediaFire. That would also be doable.
Other than that, the game is indeed on the request list already. And it's nice of you, but coincidentally, I downloaded a version of the game myself a couple of days ago, but haven't tested it so far.

OK, my first impression is that the game looks interesting and fun to play though. And it would be one of the few instances where I would be willing to support the developers (by buying a legit Steam copy). Nonetheless, a Games4theworld release would still be interesting of course. The main objection which I posted initially - that the game would become outdated very quickly if we actually released it - still holds though.
Feel free wait for @Admin's feedback on this game here.

Re: Prison Architect.
Yeah I'm kind of obsessed with the game right now and really looking forward to all of the new stuff they've added, so I'm considering buying the game myself. But I thought it might be worth a shot to ask you guys before I do that. If you think it's gonna be hard to release the game because of all of the updates I'll probably buy it though.

Re: Prison Architect.
Thanks for the input @Topken, I wasn't aware of that. I'm not sure how this GOG version works technically, but I'll assume that the principle of the many "micro-game-updates" still applies to that one too.

The above comment was just my personal opinion though, not an official G4TW statement. A release of the game would indeed be cool, but nonetheless there are certain things that will need to be talked about beforehand. Such as the question how major game updates or any future DLC are handled. Remember: once a torrent is out, you cannot modify it anymore. You can take the torrent down, and re-release a torrent, but that is a hassle.
Yes, feel free to wait for @Admin's feedback here. I know he played the game quite a bit, so he may be able to give a better insight than I can.

Re: Prison Architect.
Hi there,
Oh yeah, this is indeed a very entertaining game, if you like the genre. I've been following and playing it since somewhere in Alpha 20-25. It would not have made sense to release it "back in 2014", as the game was still in Alpha (Read: incomplete) stage back then. They have recently officially released it, but I stopped playing it due to a game-breaking bug. Namely the fact that last time I checked, the game did not use more than 1 CPU core, which means that once your prison gets large, your FPS will drop to something like 3-4, because the game can't handle it any more. That really ruined the gaming experience for me. I kept playing, because I had hoped it'd be fixed near the final release, but it wasn't.
I actually bought in on sale on Steam back then, shouldn't have been more than €10,-.
As for that Gog thing, you might as well get it on Steam, it's the same price in my local Steam Store.
As for a torrent, there is a better chance of releasing the game now, because it has been officially released and they probably won't push any more big updates. They are too busy working on the console versions (, while completely ignoring all those bugs in the PC version).
Can't really give an if and when at this point, but if you like it, or think you'll like it, then it's definitely worth it. Although... €28 is still a lot, in my opinion. Still, great game!
//EDIT
Unfortunately the Alpha for the game Parkitect has exactly the same issue: once your park gets too big, the FPS will drop to unplayable levels.
Very sad, because both games have huge potential.

Re: Prison Architect.
Yeah I sort of get tired of the layouts of my prisons before I have more than 100 prisoners so that hasn't quite been an issue for me, but I imagine it to be quite annoying.
I'd personally love a g4tw release of the game but I guess it'd be easier to fix later on when the updates has stopped completely and all.

And the thing is, the developers most likely aren't going to walk through the (probable) hassle of re-writing the game's code, to make CPU multi-threading possible. But we'll have to see of course.

Unfortunately not, but they should. Almost €30 for a game like that is really a lot.The_gh0stm4n wrote:And the thing is, the developers most likely aren't going to walk through the (probable) hassle of re-writing the game's code, to make CPU multi-threading possible. It should not be the buyer's problem that it took them years to create such a "simple" (Not trying to offend anyone here ) game.

I actually have the most recent (available) pirated version of the game installed. Let me see how many prisoners I can keep with my "good old" Intel i3 @2.93 GHz...
To some extent I guess the exact cap will vary from system to system, but if the number is good enough in my case, I couldn't complain.

For me the max is also around 1000 prisoners.The_gh0stm4n wrote:I actually have the most recent (available) pirated version of the game installed. Let me see how many prisoners I can keep with my "good old" Intel i3 @2.93 GHz...

That will pretty much be the max on all high-end systems.

Last time, I already uploaded it but it was an outdated GOG version (seems like GOG can't keep up with recent updates). I'll try my best to keep all of 'em updated.

Yes, I think it will indeed be more feasible for us to wait a little longer to release an official torrent for Prison Architect, due to these constant mini-updates that the game still receives. And maybe the developers will indeed try and come up with some sort of optimization for the CPU-related limitations in-game.
Thanks again for the efforts @D' Eradicated !

Re: Prison Architect.
The latest working version I've found was 7B as well, which I'm fine with because it's a lot smoother than what I used to have.

Re: Prison Architect.
They did announce a "very big update" just a few days ago, which would not include any new features. (Implying it'd be another bug fix update)
They say it's so big, that they called it "Prison Architect 2.0".
If this really is the optimization fix everyone has been waiting for for years, they should really be ashamed for calling it Prison Architect 2.0. It should have been implemented long before the official release.

Does that imply that there wont be any/as many small and frequent updates after the big one?

I personally assume not. A "finished" game usually is not patched that often any more, if at all.
This might be different for Prison Architect, because it's (still?!!) full of tiny bugs that need to be fixed.
But I can imagine they won't be working on this game forever, and they announced to start focussing on other games too. But before doing that, they want to make sure that Prison Architect is "fully finished", as in being a solid game that will still be played many years from now. After that they will most likely abandon it and work on their other projects. (They need to keep making profit after all, of course)

Re: Prison Architect.
Then I assume that it would be smarter to make a pirated copy of the game once it's reached 2.0? So I guess a request for the game would be easier to grant by then.

Re: Prison Architect.
I agree, I think 2.0 would make for a nice release.
Fingers crossed, I really hope they will fix that performance fix. That's the only thing that will make me play the game again. (Legit copy, mind you )
