The Sims 2 Complete Collection not installing properly Empty The Sims 2 Complete Collection not installing properly

Post by Guest Tue 28 Jun 2016, 06:25

Recently I downloaded The Sims 2 Complete Collection, and followed the installation guide without a problem until I finished installing Open For Business. When it came time to apply the associated patches in the #Patch file, I was met with a prompt, saying:

"This patch is for The Sims 2 Open For Business, but you have a more recent expansion pack installed. To make sure you have the latest updates, you may need to download the update for your latest Expansion Pack."

After hitting OK, another prompt immediately took its place, which said:

"Error during update installation. You may need to uninstall and reinstall The Sims 2 Open For Business. Please make sure you backup your saved games first."

I have not been successful in proceeding through the remaining installations past this point. Is there any advice anyone may be able to give? I am a very fresh user so any response at all would be greatly appreciated!

Hello and welcome to the forum @Avollesque,

Are you trying to install the game on Windows or Mac ? Because if it's Mac, I don't know how to give support on it, as all our stuff is meant to work on Windows OS in the first place.

If you're on Windows though, try starting afresh. At first, uninstall according to EA's guide here:
http://help.ea.com/en/article/manual-uninstall-for-sims-2-expansion-and-stuff-packs/

Re-boot the computer. After that, re-extrct all the contents of the 12GB .RAR download-file, into a FRESH folder. Use the program WinRAR for extraction. The actual extraction can take a while to complete, but when it's finished, close WinRAR and navigate to the folder with the extracted stuff. Re-start the installation from there.
