Expansion Packs and Game Crashing
Hello,
First off, thank you for all the work you do. I've downloaded TS2 complete collection and TS4 off of you and they work wonderfully. Also, Rollercoaster Tycoon Platinum so thanks for that. However, TS3 is really my favorite so this problem bothers me.
I got the base game and Pets through Origin a couple years back and I was nervous to crack the games, but since my other games from here worked so well I decided to try it. Anyway, I downloaded Island Paradise and Supernatural and installed them, carefully following all the steps; I also deactivated my Origin automatic updates to be careful. I downloaded and applied the Ultimate Fix crack and was careful to replace the files in the Origin Games directory (I followed the Readme advice; so I first used the files from the "All expansion packs released after and including Generations" and then from the #Crack file).
When I tried to launch the game, the launcher didn't work. I don't mind that as much, as I went to the TS3W.exe in the Origin Games/Sims3/Game/Bin directory and tried to use the shortcut. It gave me a quick black screen as if it was charging then announced "TS3 has stopped working" and shut down.
So my question is, what happened? How do I fix this? My versions are all up to date. My PC requirements are more than sufficiant. I would really really like to play my game again (with or without those expansions, preferably with) and since I know TS3 is a mess I'm afraid to touch anything to not worsen my situation.
Any help please??

Are you on version 1.57 or on 1.59 ?
To install Island Paradise you must have at least 1.57

Re: Expansion Packs and Game Crashing
Yes it is.
1.69 is the latest version for playing via Origin.
Downloaded games are however based on version 1.67.
Playing via Origin with cracks won't work. You'll need downloads in .iso format which are accepted by Origin and work just like original CD's after the download is mounted in a program like Poweriso or Daemon.
Alternative is to uninstall the Origin base game and replace with a G4TW download + patch 1.67.
Move your game out of Origin Games and do not use Origin to play the game.

Alternatively, you can disable automatic updates in Origin, as far as I know. You'll have to reinstall your base game if you really want to use your Origin base game with patch 1.67.
You'll just have to patch manually after reinstalling.
There's no real benefit to doing that though, other than "not having to download the base game".
