Sims 4 No Motives...?

I have just downloaded and installed the latest City Living update and the game runs perfectly! The one weird thing is that when you click on the motives icon, I get no bars representing any sims' motives. Also, they never decay. This was pretty awesome at first, considering I didn't even have to cheat to make my sim stay up all night and never use the bathroom. However, it's kind of making my game a little boring as of late. Any idea what could have caused something like this to happen? Is there any way to fix it?

I've played with various families so far, and it still happens. Let me run with no mods to see if that works--I didn't even think about that!
