Corrupt Files in The Sims 1
Hi. When unzipping with WinRAR I keep getting a message saying data3.cab & data4.cab are corrupt. Consequently I cannot start the set-up without it prompting for a disk. I made it as far as it asking for disk 2 (disk 1 was never an option). I have re-downloaded the torrent and file and I am still having the problems. Is there a fix?

Hello,
Let's see. Did the torrent fully finish in your Bittorrent client? Try closing your Bittorrent client when extracting the file.

Yes the file was completely downloaded (three times now) and was seeding. I also have tired with my torrent client closed. Still says files are corrupt.

Hello,
Please try this, just to be sure:
Open the .rar file you downloaded using only WinRar, which can be downloaded from www.games4theworld.org . (If you use any other software than WinRar, like WinZip or 7-zip, the files will get messed up!)When
you've opened the file using WinRar, select áll the files in it and
drag & drop them to a folder on your Desktop. When the extraction is
done, close the .rar file and open the folder on your Desktop.
Now,
start by reading the included "# Installation Guide.txt" and you should
be able to get the game to work yourself.
If that didn't work either; did your internet or PC shutdown during the download process? A corrupt file is usually caused by a failure during the download process.

Re: Corrupt Files in The Sims 1
Well I am using WinRar, and my PC hasn't shut down. I have also dragged and dropped as well as extracted using WinRar. I have downloaded the file 4 different times now and have extracted it over a dozen and I'm still getting corrupt data files. Sometimes it's just data3.cab, some times just data3.cab and data4.cab. This last time it was data2-4.cab that were corrupt.
Could it be that I'm using XP or utorrent that is the problem? Because I know I am doing everything else correctly.
Could you please post a MD5 check summary on the file, I could see if they match?

Hello,
A MD5 check wouldn't make any difference. The file you downloaded is correct, only one or more files get corrupted during the download process.
If you could tell me which files are corrupted at the moment, I'll upload them to FileServe, MegaUpload or MediaFire (Whatever you prefer) and then send you the link, so you can download the missing/corrupt files.
No, Windows XP and uTorrent are not the cause of the problem, it's really an error during the download process.
