TS4 Custom content program? Empty TS4 Custom content program?

Post by Guest Sun 23 Jul 2017, 20:29

This could be the wrong place to post and I apologize in advance if it is.

Does anyone know of a tool for Sims 4 like the old Sims 3 CC Magic? For those that aren't familiar with that one it was a program that would load all of your custom content (with thumbnail) and you had the option to see and disable/delete the content from that program. I have about 7,000 cc and there's a lot I would like to delete but if I don't know the specific name of the item it's impossible to find.

Mod edit: moved to the right section, topic title slightly clarified.

Thanks for the suggestion. I know of the program but I have never used it. I'll try it. Even if I can get rid of some items I don't like I'll be happy.

Tray Importer is the program you need. It displays every CC with its thumbnail. You can even browse in your families CC that they wear, and find its package.

Yeah, I would try the Tray Importer. It's what I personally use. Just place all the CC you don't want on a single sim/household of sims/lot and it will show you all of the CC in that particular family/lot, file name and all so you can delete anything that is corrupted/unwanted.

As they said, you can go with Tray Importer, or use the feature to see and delete your CC from the current version of Sims4Studio (Harmony). I've been using the latter for quite a while and had no problem except for the sad fact that the mannequin disappeared, not a huge problem for me except for when you need to delete make up, but considering the small amount I have it's zero problem!

Thank you for all the responses. I've actually downloaded both programs and I am using both depending on what I want to delete. It's a long process going through everything but that's what I get for having so much custom content.

Sure it looks thrilling to use third-party-made CC to compensate for the lack of EA-made stuff in the game. Though in general, it's not recommended to add tons of CC to the game, if you only end up using a fraction of them anyway. It's "nice" to have these CC ready in-game for the future sims/households, but then it only makes troubleshooting all the more difficult.

You're probably doing it already, but organizing your CC into subfolders (within "Mods") may help you get started in organizing your stuff more efficiently:

@The_gh0stm4n

I've thought about making subfolders many times but I swear I read some where that too many subfolders would slow the game down. Apparently that info was wrong or outdated. I did recently add a test folder (as you explained in your post) so now it looks like I need to work on grouping the others and getting some organization. Thanks for the suggestion and link!

Did you test it on your own? I mean making subfolders? The other thing is, it is possible under circumstances if you have an intricate layer of subfolders, but then again, do you need such a complex system anyhow?

Another thing that could help you is this:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t20432-how-to-merge-package-files

You can actually merge "similar" CC items, into bigger .package files, which can also help improve game performance/loading times. I knew/know a user on here who similarly to you has tons of CC; and her game takes ages to load. Admittedly, it most likely also takes into account your computer hardware, but still. It can be an idea to merge these items. Note: don't merge script mods into these big .package files.
