It may be still a bit early, but what are you guys thinking about C&D?

I like the CAS and the interactions we have with our pets, but have not really played long enough to know if really is as good as EA made it seem to be.

I saw some funny things happening: sims getting married to their pets (because of MCCC), sims standing on top of furniture, pets moving into household by themselves, etc. So now I'm waiting for my mods and CC to be updated before I go back.

One thing that left me kind of cold towards this pack is seeing so many bugs right out of the gate (EA bugs, not the ones related to mods or CC). The one about the relationships that was fixed fast was no joke to the people that saw their households lose all ties, and now it seems there's more game breaking ones, like the error 102 (live mode) or error 122 (build mode) I keep reading at the official forum.

What are you guys thinking? Did it reach your expectations or are you underwhelmed so far?

Cheers!

Mod edit: I thought this was slightly better suited for the "Game Reviews" section, therefore the topic was moved there. Smile

Ok thank god I'm not the only one having that issue. I hope it gets fixed because I already had a notification about a cat and a sim getting pregnant and it's making me paranoid.

I still haven't played it much, I have an exam on monday and can't play as much as I wish I could, but I love the interactions you can do with your pets. Probably the best pets we've had. And they don't walk backwards like they do in TS3 (that always freaked me out) Only wished there were more than cats and dogs (or skins like foxes and raccoons). I never actually paid much attention to small pets but it's sad they're gone. They'll probably add them on a game pack or something.

This happens if you have the marriage autonomy enabled on MCCC. The creator says we should disable this option until he can fix this and the other bugs the mod is having with the game.

I'm glad you're enjoying it! I'll wait a bit more until I can bring my legacy family and give the younger sims some cute pets. For now I really love the new roof and the possibility of scalling things down!

So far, it seems ok. Would like to know if the cats and dogs spawn in all the other worlds, like strays, other than the ones that are in the new world. Have searched to find out, but haven't seen anything on it. I even put a dog park and a vet office in Willow Creek in hopes that some would show up.

I'm pretty sure they said in a Q&A or one of the livestreams that strays will appear in the other worlds too.

So, been playing since Friday.
I love the look of the pets, they are diverse and lovely. I am fine with them not being controllable, it ads realism. The thing I am not ok with is the fact that you know almost nothing about them - how old are they? What skills do they have? Do they have any quirks? As a pet owner I would know all this and more about my own pet. But here I know nothing aside the things that the friends panel gives me.
What also saddens me is that there is no family tree for them either - I guess the game remembers what pets are related so that they don't mate, but I as a player can't check it. Why? It would be cool if my sim had a dog and you can then see that his mom had the dog's grandma as a companion.

An irritating part is that when sims go to work/school the pets stop what they are doing and just fall asleep wherever they are, only waking up when the sim returns. They basically stop existing for the 8 hours that the sims aren't there. Similar thing happens, albeit not always, when the sim goes to bed, they all gather around and fall asleep. While cute at first, but then just annoying how suddenly their free will is overridden by a "sleep by master" command.

The Vet career I am completely disappointed by - it's not a career, it is basically a store or a restaurant with specialized items. I would have preferred it to be like the doctor or detective careers where you can follow them to work, have them do tasks and work their way to head of clinic, and not just buying a clinic and presto suddenly being a fully fledged Veterinarian, albeit one who has no skill what so ever.

Don't get me wrong, I am having fun with the EP, it is great having pets in the game again, I've missed that added layer of them in the world. But at the end it leaves me unsatisfied with the execution.

This sums up my first impression. I like it, and i can freely say that this is my favorite EP till now but still its not that great as it could be. Compared to the sims 3, to me cats and dogs are "smarter". I hated in sims 3 the way they walk, if they couldn't go forward they would start walking backwards, if you know what i mean Very Happy Here, that is not a case. And I like that I can't control them. But I would like to know how many days they have till aging up especially because of the pets pregnancy. But I think that they will fix this in the future. Also I have a problem with mating pets, the only time I have successful make two dogs to mate, is when I put them both in same household. They just don't want to mate with a stray one. I don't know is this a rule, glitch or just a bad luck :$ Also I can't find how to change clothes for them. I know in CAS but can i change clothes for adopted pets?

Yeah, I haven't been able to get them to mate with pets that are not in my household either, and I've been trying SUPER hard.

As for changing clothes: mirror or dresser. You send your sim to change their clothes and in the CAS that pops up you can change the clothes of your pets, too.

Im not impressed with it at all. They  should have titled it Sims 4 pets and include all animals and even add a zoo to the game.

My first impressions: buggy! Way buggy!
I was doing the Wolf Pack Challenge when I tested this and I felt dissapointed with what I experienced (and this without any mods!):
- I couldn't adopt a pet or send a pet for adoption; by adopting it only spawns the Adoption Agent or what are they called; by sending pets to the adoption, same thing, but the build mode/savegame/etc. options are greyed out and, even if the person leaves, those options are still locked!
- The vets do nothing but mopping puddles and they're unable to treat other's pets...
- My Sim was constantly meeting up with the raccoon (the challenge's "timer") and they even got through walls like a ghost!

I did reinstall the game and anything it's mentioned in the Sims Forums and still nothing... unless a patch is released, I don't think Cats and Dogs is that playable, even if I install the latest version with Laundry Day SP (when it comes out, of course, by the time and date of this post it's before that) and work on some challenges WhatDidUJustCallMe?
