Sims 4 crashes and reboots pc when quitting game. [SOLVED]

First topic message reminder :

I recentently bought a new laptop and installed your download of The Sims 4 like I did on my old laptop. I followed all the instructions and did everything like last time. My save was already on the computer prior to the installation, but the game automatically used my old save files. It worked fine the first time I was running the game and all my cc and mods worked too. Everything was the same as on my old laptop, except update 1.37.35.1010. and laundry day stuff.

I can still play my game as usual now and save it without a problem. But if I save and quit the game, the game and the laptop freeze. My laptop then has to do a full reboot.

Can you please help me? I haven't heard of this problem before, so I have no idea what to do.

I'll do that, but my computer is in dutch. Is that a problem?

I should be able to navigate through it.    Did it many times before with systems in a variety of languages.

Without mods and cc the game works fine (on the new administrator account). Had to assign the NVIDIA card by hand though and got a message that it still couldn't find the card. Never had this message before.

I keep getting the 'can't recognize videocard' message all the time now. Did you change something?



It also turns my settings down from ultra to medium.

I only went to the NVIDIA Control Panel, then to individual programs, then The Sims 4. And from then on I believe you eventually took control of the mouse: that's when we saw that TS4 was using your NVIDIA card, not the Intel HD one. 

I then typed a few things into the chatbox on TeamViewer, and then left. I did not change anything else.

This game is wicked though.    I know for some people a workaround is that they rename their folder "The Sims 4" under Documents\Electronic Arts, which could bypass the error (see the example message). Is this a newer laptop, by any chance? I was thinking, maybe the graphics card is "too new" for The Sims 4, and it has not been incorporated yet into the game files.

I believe there are the same files (needed to be modified), inside the install folder of The Sims 4, so you should be able to apply this guide analogously.

Okay I fixed everything. This is what I did:
- The pregnancy mega mod was crashing my laptop, so i installed an older version of this mod (25.0). The crashing stopped.
- I got my graphics card to work by clicking on details when hovering over the game in GeForce Experience and then I clicked on optimize card on the page that opened next. After that, my game found the graphics card. (I don't know why I had to optimize that. I never had to do that earlier.)

Hopefully this helps. Today ArtUrlWWW uploaded version 25.5 to patreon for other people to test. I'll give you an update when the new version is properly tested and made available on ModTheSims.

P.S. It's a newer laptop, but as you can see it doesn't matter.

My graphics card worked fine with the game before, so even though the laptop is new it couldn't be the problem.

I also copied my dutch mods folder and pasted it into my english mods folder to make them the same again. Maybe that did something too, but i highly doubt it.

It's also an interesting stance from the game developers that they apparently include "profiles" of video cards, in their game database; I wouldn't be able to recall right now any other game that does it so explicitly.

The argument seems that this will ensure "the best possible performance, depending on the individual user's hardware". But yes,...

Is the game working fine now? 

Yesterday ArtUrlWW released version 25.4 of the pregnancy mega mod on ModTheSims. My game works perfectly with the new update!

In other words: Version 25.0 and 25.4 work perfectly and every version in between is giving problems with starting and quitting the game.
