Question about merging packages. Empty Question about merging packages.

Post by Guest Sun 11 Feb 2018, 02:35

Alright to make a long story short I been trying to merge packages to reduce lag in my game.I'm able to compress these things into packages with stuff from the Sims resource and mod the Sims. However when I try to do this with the objects here on the download page from the store they don't show up  Is it because they were initially from the store, so they needed to be installed through the launcher?

Hello,

I'm assuming you are talking about those .sims3pack files (if not, please correct me). To my knowledge you cannot directly "merge" those.

First off, if you install .sims3pack files through the launcher, they will be kind of "merged" already, into .dbc files (neighborhoods are merged into .world files, in addition). If you use CC Magic however, .package files will be created. See the guide here:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t15843-how-to-use-cc-magic

Note that worlds cannot be merged using that method. Also make sure to delete the cache files after the merging-operation. Somewhere in that guide it should be stated how you can delete the cache.

Our store items are decrapified, therefore you should be able to "merge" them. Are you positive that the content does not show up in-game? Because a common mistake is that people only look at that weird pop-up at the beginning of the game (which does not show all mods that are installed).

Yes, I'm sure this stuff doesn't show up in game. I've looked all over for it. I got some different lots and other things like that which are showing up as well as the hair I've downloaded. I used the multipack extractor to extract the Sims three packs and used s3PE to merge them.

How many separate .package files, did you create during the extraction/merging of those .sims3pack files? I believe - though I'm not familiar with the technical details, that you cannot simply put everything into one .package file. The G4TW torrent for example has 5 big .package files.

I would actually recommend you use a different method for merging the stuff, such as the aforementioned CC Magic. Less effort, and the same result.

If nothing seems to work for you (though CC Magic should), keep in mind that "lag" can have many different reasons, and I'm inclined to think that store items is just one small aspect of it. See this here for a start, if you haven't done so yet:

I don't really understand how to use CC magic if I'm completely honest. I looked up a lot of the tutorials, and it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I originally tried to do that.
I haven't been able to find any tutorials or anything that really explains what I'm doing wrong. As when I tried CC magic, nothing at all showed up not just the store stuff but basically any custom content. And I've already read that guy to reduce lag. That's why I've been merging my stuff and clearing my cache

Is your computer strong enough to handle The Sims 3, plus (I assume) the entire collection of expansions/stuffpacks, plus the entire store content? And as stupid as it sounds, did you correctly prepare your mod framework for The Sims 3? See the guide here if not:

I haven't used CC Magic in years, but using that tool you shouldn't have to move any of the .package files created in the process.

At that point, I'm not sure what else to suggest other than trying to download a new store collection; like the one I mentioned initially from G4TW here.

Good luck nonetheless!

In case you haven't done so already, try applying the "4GB patch" (google it), onto the TS3W.exe, which will enable the game to utilize 4GB of the available RAM. Since the game is just a 32-bit application, it cannot use more than 4GB of the total RAM in a machine.

Also check out this here:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t21716-excessive-frame-rendering-in-the-sims-3-updated-on-16-12-2015

Plus the guide about recognizing new graphics cards in TS3:
http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help%3AGetting_new_graphics_cards_recognized_by_the_game

The latter two should not directly have an influence on lagging, but still worth doing nonetheless. The game was never optimized, so expect trouble even with computers that are very strong "on paper". My own machine is a lot older, just with some new parts (Intel i3 530, GeForce GT 730, and 16GB of RAM). My game lags only occasionally, and with every DLC included. Can't complain about the performance on my end, with that wicked game...but yes. Many others unfortunately seem to have problems...
