About the Fixes. Empty About the Fixes.

Post by Guest Mon 16 Apr 2018, 00:32

So, I don't really know if this is the correct forum, but I hope it is, if it isn't, please forgive me

Anyways, hello!
A couple weeks ago I started using G4TW. It's a great site, seriously. Thank you very much for all archives and games you make available for us.
Taking that in consideration, I've got a small question:

My The Sims 3 vanilla game is original, I bought it during 2013, however, all my EPs are not. After I started downloading everything again, I began using your downloads. BUT: you guys always bring the fixes into subject, saying that they're important for the games and all, however, I installed every EP without the fix and they run pretty smoothly.
Roaring Heights Gold too, required a fix, but I am able to access the CAS stuff normally and the neighborhood appears properly on my game. I don't really know whats happening, so I'd like to know if there's something wrong with my game or something like this.

Thanks!

EDIT: About the store sims3pack, are they decrap already? If I want to use Delphy's s3pack converter to .package, they'll be converted right? Will I be able to install them like I'd do to any .package file? help  Y U do dis to me

The store fixes correct interaction issues with store items like the IAM's atomic pet feeder, sani toilet, Gothic spellbook, etc. These items will appear in game but your Sim can/will have route fails, interaction loop fails and other similar issues without the fixes, even with 100% legit store items. The store fixes were originally created to address these issues with legit (purchased) store items and it was found that if the store fixes were decrapped then they would also work for decrapped store items.

Unless otherwise stated, all of our files have been decrapped and (where needed) rig fixed. As long as you follow the rules for converting .sims3pack files to .package you shouldn't have any issues installing them.

Oh, I'm sorry to bother again about this, but now I have a small question about this again:

My game won't save after I leave the Buy Mode.
Okay. I wanted specific items you guys didn't exactly have (ex: the ice cream machine) so what did I do; I found these downloads elsewhere, only them. However, they still mess up my game. These downloads were .package specific, so I'm wondering if I have to have the .package fix too.
The sites I got it from didn't exactly say if I did, so I'm kinda trying to find out what's messing up my game and saves.

Do I really need the .package fix even though I did not convert your files to .package?

The "data" is generally always the same, whether you use a .sims3pack file or a .package file. A.k.a. : the file format doesn't matter much, if at all. So you still need to use the store fixes.

If you use/are using our Complete Store download it has all the store items released for The Sims 3 (June 2009 - Aug 2014), including the ice cream maker, deep fryer, chocolate fountain, etc.

Depending on where you grabbed the non-G4TW files they may not have been decrapped properly or at all. As with all types of files, its best to only download from a trusted source so you know the file(s) is/are good and you don't let any uninvited guests in. Good job!

I can't link to other sites, but, I can still provide some information though:

"Items from the Sims 3 Store decrapped, compressed, converted to package and recategorized where appropriate. "
This is what one of the sites say.

  • Do I have to Decrap or Unlock the File I'm downloading?
The objetive of this blog it's not do anything else appart of Install, if you decrap the File you're Dowloading it will Brake.

And this is what the other site says.
So what I get from this is: for the downloads to work (G4TW STORE) I've got to have the store fix ONLY for .sim3pack files, right?
So, basically the files I got from other sites won't need any fix. Is this correct?

I'll try to download the entire store and see what happens

The store fix files are for both .sims3pack and .package items no matter where you get the item files from, even if they are "legit" files from the EA store.

The store fixes address ("fix") interaction issues that EA overlooked/ignored as well as allow "cracked" items to be used successfully in game. I use the store fixes on my legit Sims 3 (Origin) installation because it they fix several "quirky" interactions with a few legit store items.

Decrapping/Unlocking is an issue separate to that of the store fixes. Decrapping/Unlocking means, that you can install the files even on cracked Sims 3 versions (otherwise you would end up with an error like the one described in this topic). So in the first place, this is about installing the store items.

Like Dracos said, you STILL should use the store fixes on Decrapped/Unlocked items.

As for the scare-off comment here:

Blog wrote:The objetive of this blog it's not do anything else appart of Install, if you decrap the File you're Dowloading it will Brake.

Maybe they just don't have the requisite knowledge about decrapping, but here's what else I am thinking:

We should keep in mind that not everybody out there attempting to "help" people, is willing to support piracy, or be seen as 'facilitating' it. It's not entirely clear from this blogpost, but since decrapping is commonly associated with piracy many platforms will deliberately misrepresent facts.

You can bet that at least 9 out 10 Sims-related Facebookgroups/subreddits/blogs/Forums tend to not take kindly to piracy, which is why you should never mention your game is pirated, in the event you needed to gather information.

It's indeed advisable to gather a second or even third-opinion, where possible. Smile

About the Fixes. Empty Re: About the Fixes.

Post by Guest Tue 24 Apr 2018, 02:38

Okay, so... At the present moment what did I do:
I still got the files from other places. So I deleted everything related to the fixes. Everything.
I didn't have an overrides folder, so I got the framework and deleted the one I already had and placed the downloaded resource there.
Right.
I'll try to play the game again and see what happens.

However, if I'm not able to fix this things, I will delete those files and use the entire store from here. Regarding to this, I have a question:
I already have s3packs I chose installed. To get the entire store working, should I delete those s3packs?

You should uninstall (not delete) any store items that were installed as .sims3packs before using the complete store setup. Deleting the .sims3pack(s) from the download folder does not uninstall the item(s) from the library database. Use the launcher to uninstall your store items, or better yet, start with a fresh install of the game before using The Complete Store.

The mod framework should look like this; please check your own setup against the example screenshot below.

About the Fixes. Empty Re: About the Fixes.

Post by Guest Tue 24 Apr 2018, 22:05

All righty. So... This post will be bigger than those before, mostly because I really want to stop bothering you guys (your help has been awesome, ty)

So I should uninstall my base game then install again?
I'll list here some of the troubles I've been encountering

1) My main concern has been with the fact that I'm not being able to save after I leave the Buy Mode. I tried saving normally and everything went fine, but then I tried to save after Buy Mode and my game keeps saving forever.
I deleted every item that wasn't from here, but my game stayed the same. Won't save at all.

2) I'm sorting the entire Store I got from here, and:
- Where exactly should I place the "Library" packages?
- I use a different program to help me install CC and this program actually creates the Mods folder automatically, but just the Mods folder. Not the Overrides one. So what did I do: I deleted the resource from the Mods folder and placed the Framework Resource there. Then I created the Overrides folder. The Resource is a bit different though. What should I do about this? Is this right?

3) About CCMerged:
- The IG from Store Fixes says that are two situations, each one related to the type of archive is used. s3pack and package. However, inside the entire store archive there's these two types of archives there. There's s3pack and package. So which one should I follow?
- From what I've been reading, ccmerged has to be inside DCBackup, Overrides and Mods > Package folder. But I read somewhere that if the ccmerged is inside the Packages folder, it simply won't work.
ccmerged.package WILL NOT work if you place it in your Mods folder. You MUST place it in the DCBackup folder which will already be in your root folder. If you already have a ccmerged.package in this folder, delete it and replace it with the one you’ve downloaded. If you are uncertain of where to download a ccmerged.package or if you need one, see the FAQ below. wrote:From one site I searched content.
So what exactly I should do here? I have no idea.
- (Inside my Mods folder there's this "Cache" folder that I have no idea what's about.)

So how my folders are now:
DCBackup has the ccmerged file
Packages has the StoreFixes, XML and ccmerged files
Overrides has the StoreFixes and XML files

Is there any kind of error here? Maybe I've placed wrong files, I don't really know.

For now, I think those are my questions.

Thank you and please forgive me for bothering you!  Embarassed

//EDIT

Should I have two resource files? I have to say I wasn't expecting that

Some people say that with the store fixes installed...they get an endless saving screen after placing any buydebug item. I myself haven't been able to confirm that, however.

And you only need on resource.cfg file. My picture was just an example screenshot; the other file is an old resource.cfg that I haven't deleted yet.

The problem may be with buydebug items?
Yeah, I was using buydebug on those saves.

So.. Clean Slate right now. I deleted everything. Every mod and every item from the store. Since I don't want to mess this up again, I'll wait to know the answers to the questions I asked, so I'll at least know what I'm doing and hopefully I won't bother you anymore  Embarassed

Actually, most of my questions were pretty stupid, so nevermind. Sorry  About the Fixes. 1491110836
It's just the save problem, to be true.

Let's see if it works this time

Try this. Remove the store fixes temporarily, and also delete the scriptcache.package under Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3. Then start up your Sims 3 game again, play around and place your buydebug items. Try saving the game (should work).

Exit the game, put the store fixes back in, and play on. Do NOT use buydebug items this time. See if it lets you save, normally it should work.
