Installing Store Content on Legit Sims 3

Post by Prettymorning27 on Tue 27 Mar 2018, 22:44

Hello,

I looked for a similar question on the forum and didn't find anything relevant.  I have a legit copy of Sims 3, origin registered.  I'd like to install some store content from G4TW.  I tried installing the content and the store fixes, but the content isn't showing up in game.  Is there something I can do to fix this, or is it not possible to mix the two?

What expansion/stuff packs do you have installed, if any? Quite a few store items need their associated EP/SP installed before you can use them.

Are the EPs and SPs you have installed checked under the Expansions tab? The 1.69 Origin patch has a bad habit of forgetting what EPs/SPs you have installed and want to run, so you have to check to make sure they are still ticked on before launching the game.

Using G4TW content with "legit" Sims games is usually no problem. The Origin version of the game has always been plagued with issues, even with "legit" content, so your best bet is to install the items you want in small batches ( I recommend no more than 10 items at a time) and then load the game and test them.

Thank you for your reply.

I have all expansion packs except for into the future, and all EPs are checked under the tab.  I tried installing just a couple sets and it's still not working.  Is there anything else I can try?

You can try forcing the game to refresh its caches. Go to My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3.  Go into the DCCache folder and delete all the files there, then go to the DCBackup folder and delete all the files except ccmerged.package. Next go to the Thumbnails folder and delete all the files there. Finally, in the main directory, delete the scriptcache.package file.

Launch the game and wait for it to load. Create a new game. Don't start any save games yet as we want to force the game to re-create the files you deleted from above. Test to see if the items are now showing up in the new game.

I think that worked!  I found the content I installed in-game.  Thank you so much for your help!
