"TROJAN ALERT" from Windows Defender Empty "TROJAN ALERT" from Windows Defender

Post by Guest Sun 27 May 2018, 12:16

After a windows update, My Windows Defender identified the file, OrangeEmu.dll, as a trojan virus. I was like, great, my game just broke. I went ahead and let it remove the mentioned files from my save folder which stores all my G4TW game files. It removed it from, My First Pet Stuff, TS4 update 1-42-30-1020 and from my, The Sims 4 folder in C:>Program Files (86)>The Sims 4>Game>Bin. That was the only 3 files that contained the OrangeEmu.dll. OrangeEmu64.dll doesn't seem to be infected and the game still runs fine without the file that was removed by my Windows Defender. Can someone else verify this? I'm hoping this was just a false reading from my virus scan, but like I mentioned, the game still runs fine even with this file removed.

It is a false warning indeed.
The file OrangeEmu.dll does NOT contain a virus.

But, apparently you have Windows 64-bits, the 64-bits game does not need this file.

Thanks for the fast reply. I was hoping that was what it was. As for not even needing the file, I wasn't aware. Thanks for the heads up. I'll know to remove it upfront in future updates. You guys and gals rock. Thanks for everything you all do.

Compare it with the old Rld.dll and RldOrigin.dll files. They were also "seen" as trojans.

My guess is that you are using the TS4_x64.exe for running the game, which is why the game still appears to run fine. Nonetheless I would restore the OrangeEmu.dll file, and maybe it's also an idea to turn off Windows Defender:
