Time to checkout for a while :(
Yeah I’m bidding farewell for a while(been absent bc of life mostly). Today I had called Toshiba because my dvd rom wasn’t recognized in Windows 10. Problem was fixed, unfortunately they found another problem with my laptop! I honestly had no clue about it either and they couldn’t figure out why my laptop was running sluggish despite it being an i7 12gb RAM. They ended up running a program and that’s when we found out....
HDD:Performance 100%
HDD Health: 9% Critical
Bad Sectors: 2900+
Time Estimated 10 days
I did wonder about the slowness after going from 8, 8.1 to Win 10 it seemed to get worse so I did away with previous installments of windows(8.1) which the laptop sped up a lot! So right now I’m backing up my game saves and a few other things and it will be permanently shut down until I can get this problem fixed for good. So I’m retrospect, I won’t be able to play Sims or anything for that matter (bummer) so for now time to go so no Seasons EP for me. It’s been good love you guys and I’ll see you again soon!

Re: Time to checkout for a while :(
Laptop hard-drives oftentimes seem to be afflicted with this; I experienced it myself several times, in the distant past. I am guessing that part of the possible reason is, that these smaller drives and their inner components are more susceptible to shocks or other improper handling during transportation or storage.
Other than that, I also imagine that if everything these days is produced by third-worldchild slave laborers, nobody benefits in the end except the corporation executives. To put it very diplomatically.

Re: Time to checkout for a while :(
True. I’ve had the laptop since 2013. Not to mention my left hinge broke few years back due to a design flaw. I jotted it back up yesterday to back up a few more things to my google drive and usb. If I could find a western digital black which are really really good. I just have to get it done and over with hopefully end of this month. Not sure if I’ll start fresh when I have it replaced or just have them clone what I couldn’t back up(my movies folder) hinge is busted too and that happened right after the warranty expired. Not too worried about that in the slightest just the drive itself. I’ll post when I get back up and running and will have to re-download the games again

Get a cheap sata ssd and replace it (or add to it, if you can have two drives)... How many GB of stuff do you need to keep in your C: drive? (used space)

Re: Time to checkout for a while :(
Most is backed up to g drive and usb. I still haven’t gotten around to replacing it just yet, other things I have to address first and it will more than likely need to be sent to Toshiba. I have a busted hinge that will definitely need replaced. Which that broke right after it came out of warranty, I’ll more likely get the same 1TB or up it to a 2TB. I’ve thought about SSD which was recommended by a repair shop down the road with was 500GB and I have no interest in lowering my storage from what I have now. I’ll either start fresh or ghost my current drive to the new one simply for Windows 10 then update to the latest build. I had plans to do that, but with it’s health at 9% 2k+ bad sectors, there’s no way I’ll bother until repairs are made. Plus the fan under the keyboard will need replaced. When I upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1 I noticed a slow down, I removed the old install and it seemed fine still a bit slow. Then when Win 10 came out it got even more sluggish even having 12GB ram and 300+ space on the HDD. My dvd drive wasn’t showing up and Toshiba knew what was causing it and fixed that but also found out I was going into HDD failure.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you get your computer fixed soon. A clean windows 10 installation should perform better than an upgrade from 8.

After the last years ransomware attack, I had to upgrade to Windows 10, lost everything because of the attack. Glad that I got the windows 10 installed and regret why I have not upgraded earlier. But I believe Windows 7 was way better to use.

I love Windows 10, I use the Skip Ahead version (Insider) Enterprise or Pro, depending on the machine (Enterprise on mine, Pro on machines I don't use that often or friends), legit Volume Licenses, of course.oliv88 wrote:After the last years ransomware attack, I had to upgrade to Windows 10, lost everything because of the attack. This is the cheapest (less than US $ 3.00) Pro License I found on eBay so far, they usually deliver you a key and you go through some hoops and upgrade your home version, or you can download the Windows Insider ISO if doing a clean install for any reason: Windows 10 Pro (eBay)
If you need or want the Enterprise version you need to install it from scratch and it's a bit under US $ 5.00 (it's my favorite and the one I use on my computer), and you can buy it also on eBay: Windows 10 Enterprise
I don't sell those licenses, but I use that kind of volume license since a few years ago and I never had any problem with my system being recognized as legal and I never used any crack for Windows ever again. I think that our operating system is a very important part of our machines and, since it's VERY cheap to get a volume license, I'd not bother using a version obtained somewhere else than Microsoft itself. Those licenses are even good for the Insider Program and other stuff, not sure if we're covered to use support, since they are meant to be used by companies that have IT staff...

Definitely, using the cheap cracks is not feasible, I realized this after I got to be the victim of the attack.
