Update on Forum tutorials. Empty Update on Forum tutorials.

Post by The_gh0stm4n Fri 14 Sep 2018, 16:44

In order to streamline the Support given on the G4TW Forum, we have now disabled all commenting in the sections named "Fixes", "Tutorials", or "Tips & tricks". The topics in these sections were intended to be read, and used for brief thank you-notes only. But since users have been increasingly using these sections for Support, we have decided to take this step.

Which for you means, that should you really feel unclear about a tutorial, you're free to open a new topic, or just search existing discussions under the sections named for Support-purposes. "But why not lock the threads simply, if you don't want people to comment there?" Because on Forumotion, if you lock a thread, users cannot edit their guide anymore for future updates/corrections/etc, unless they have moderator permissions.

Now, since only Moderators and Administrators are able to post directly in these tutorial sections, here's how you can submit new tutorials for review.

Arrow  open a topic in one of the Support-sections. For example, if you want to submit a tutorial for review in The Sims 4 Fixes/Tips, then post your topic for the time being under "The Sims 4 Support".

Arrow  optionally: add a brief notice that you would like the tutorial to be reviewed by the team, for possible addition to the official tutorials-sections.

Arrow  the team will then review the guide(s), and if approved, move the guide(s) to the official tutorials.

Arrow  after doing so, the person who wrote the guide(s) can still edit their messages, for example in order to make updates on the post, etc.

Arrow  bear in mind, again, that there will be no follow-up questions, beyond the actual tutorial-post. Support goes strictly only in for that purpose specifically designated Forum sections.

Arrow  it has been pointed out that "people cannot see if a tutorial works, if nobody can post even a thank-you message". You can rest assured that every guide is reviewed by the team, before being added there. As for everything else, it's going to be your decision whether or not you trust us. As for my announcement here, this brief explanation should suffice.

Arrow  if you still want to post "thank you-messages", you can do so in the section with the same name:

That should do for now! We hope you will like our attempt of 'streamlining' forum communications and Support.  Carlos is tha man
