Cannot open lots after Parenthood
Hi all, it's my first time posting here. I'm using High Sierra.
I installed the base game & all downloads in the given order, including creating the Wineskin etc. Everything in startup & CAS works perfectly, but when I go to select a lot either to build on or move into, it just stays forever on the loading screen. Music, spinning plumbob, & game tips still run but it never loads. I've waited up to two hours.
I uninstalled everything & went back to do them in order one by one, as I thought maybe it was getting jammed trying to generate & load all the stuff packs, & I really only want up to C&D anyway. Each time I installed a new download I would delete my EA folder in Documents & run the game. The lot loading problem does not start to occur until I have installed the v1.29.69.1020 update between City Living & Parenthood. I have also tried loading up after installing Parenthood (with the update), as well as skipping the update & just installing Parenthood right after CL, but the issue still occurs either way.
I have followed all instructions except for the one in the update guide that says to move The Sims 4 folder out of the EA folder & directly into Program Files; wasn't sure if that was applicable to Mac, but I did try to move it up into the Program Files folder under the package contents of the TS4 app I made with Wineskin. This required me to change the location of the .exe in the wrapper, but once I did that the game still ran -- but also still had the lot loading error.
Just wondering how to solve this problem of the lots never loading. Again, CAS works fine & the startup screen gives me notifications that all the expected downloads are installed. Let me know if there are any stats, folder screenshots, etc. that I need to add on. I know Mac support is thin here but if anyone could help I'd be extremely grateful!

Run the validator and post the result here. (Skip the .md5 part, just select your game installation folder in 2nd file picker)

Re: Cannot open lots after Parenthood
Because the folder is within the package contents, it won't let me select it as a normal folder, but I made a copy to my desktop & used that instead.
This is with everything up to & including the v1.29.69.1020 update but WITHOUT Parenthood installed. This update is the first installation where the lot problem occurs.

Re: Cannot open lots after Parenthood
Try creating symbolic link instead of making a copy next time.
As you can see in report you're missing "game/bin/origins.ini" file. Extract it from v1.29.69.1020 update. Or skip if the game runs without it.
In installation guide point 7 says that after installing v1.29.69.1020 update you need to delete/rename "Game" folder and then either install next DLC or download fixed "Game" folder. Or, as validator shows, delete "unknown files":
game/bin/core/imageformats/msvcp100.dll
game/bin/core/imageformats/msvcr100.dll
game/bin/core/imageformats/msvcr100d.dll
game/bin/core/msvcp100.dll
game/bin/core/msvcr100.dll
game/bin/python/deployed.zip
game/bin/rld.dll
game/bin/ts4.par
So just delete those files and test if the game works. If it doesn't, extract "game/bin/origins.ini" file and test again.

Re: Cannot open lots after Parenthood
Possibly one of the problems was that there was no origins.ini file in the v1.29.69.1020 update. I had missed the part about the fixed Game folder, either because I was using a different guide or because I missed one of the many, many steps.

Sorry, rest of my post cut off & it's the one time I didn't use Preview. The fixed Game folder was the solution. I've installed up to Cats & Dogs & the lot problem has resolved! Thank you for giving me my "fix."
Do I need to worry about the 1.46.18.1020 update if I just stay at C&D? If I do download more, does the moving of the TS4 folder up to Program Files just take place within the package contents of the skin, followed by redirecting the wrapper to the new location of the .exe? Or should I not bother?
Again, thank you so much for your help; was worried I wouldn't get a reply in the Mac forum & be stuck forever pets-less at City Living! (I'm a veterinary nurse in real life, so this is obviously unacceptable.)

Re: Cannot open lots after Parenthood
Glad it worked for you.
If you want to use mods/CC you need up-to-date game. Other than that you can stop at Cats & Dogs. With G4TW releases you need to download all DLCs and install them in order. With my repack you can install just the patch. Just keep in mind that I haven't tested it on Mac+wineskin so install something small first, like My First Pet Stuff. If there are no errors during installation and there is SP14 folder in your game installation folder - go ahead and install the patch. It's worth noting that next patch will bring terrain tools - if you want them, you will have to update your game.
If you don't get any error, don't bother moving your installation folder.
