How to download torrents safely and securely. Empty How to download torrents safely and securely.

Browsing the website for a few days now and not having come across a thread on staying safe and secure downloading torrents from, for example, The Pirate Bay, I decided to make my own. Of course, the World Wide Web being a huge place, there are places out there instructing one how to enhance anonymity and privacy of their online activity... but for a community offering such grand help as these forums, it'd be interesting to see what help could come of shared preference of how from members. May I ask how Admin and anyone of whom considers themselves to be more-so protected from unsafe/planted IP addresses than the average uploader/seeder is so? What methods, techniques, software, perhaps hardware do you use in order to be?

I know of:

  • using VPNs of which do not keep logs,
  • Tor for browsing, DuckDuckGo for searching,
  • P2P proxies, encryption of some reliable form,
  • changing showcased IP, even under VPN, every day,
  • basic security would be not using same IP/password for every account one makes
...but what else could be manipulated in order to achieve better, as aforementioned, safety/security/privacy/protection, especially, also as aforementioned, whilst downloading, seeding and uploading torrents?

Hello,

Thank you for these suggestions!
If you want to be (almost) 100% safe, use a VPN service with high encryption.
Remember that not all VPN services tunnel P2P connections too! So you'll have to double-check that with your VPN provider.
When using a VPN, not even your ISP can check what you're doing, only that you're using bandwidth.
