So, i followed the 'how to install sims 3 correctly' thread and downloaded the manual patch first as i get an update error when i was trying to install the island paradise expansion. It took a long time to open  the 'TS3_1.57.62.0230xx_update' file and when it finally did, there's a pop up 'The installed version of the application could not be determined. The setup will now terminate' ????

Can you tell me where you have got The Sims 3 and the expansions/stuff packs from?
