How to install The Sims 3 correctly. Empty How to install The Sims 3 correctly.

heej guys,

I have a little problem with the game.
when I installed the new expansions, my game reset itself and al my data was lost :S
I tought it was due the new expansions. Unfortunatly, when I wanted to play the game today, all my data was lost again :s
I saved the game yesterday, closed it and started it up again, because I wanted to know if it was working, and yes my save was still there. (I 'tested' this because of the 'error' after installing the expansions)

I don't get it what I did wrong, I've installed your expansions several times before and never had this problem. I follow the guide and normally everything works...

Can you help me?

Your save files are located in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3.
Did you do anything around this folder that could delete files?

Hello,

Yes, unfortunately, this can happen when you update the game/install a new expansion. Look at the location Shamrock posted before. If you don't see any folders with the name of your savefile(s), and if you don't have any backup either, then I'm afraid there is nothing you can do.

For the future, make sure that you regularly backup your savefiles, to a safe location, like an external hard-drive or something similar.

And: before you update your game or install a new expansion, make sure that you rename the folder "The Sims 3" (located in My Documents/Electronic Arts), into anything you like. After that, you can continue with updating the game/installing.

Before you start the game, rename the folder back to normal.

I hope this information will help you - for the future.
