Game Crash on Startup. [SOLVED] Empty Game Crash on Startup. [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Sun 29 Jun 2014, 04:49

Hi,

I installed University Life earlier today, and now whenever I try to start my game I get a black screen with the windows wheel of death, then explorer gives me a pop-up saying that The Sims 3 has crashed. I can get the launcher to open.

I'm running windows 7 64-bit, and my computer meets all system requirements. I have a legitimate copy of the base game and WA, expansions up to showtime, and stuff packs up to master suite stuff. I also had a pack of the store DLC from a long time ago.

I followed the "How to install Sims 3 correctly" post, and I made sure to use the ultimate fix. My game is patched to version 1.67.2.

I also tried this one (https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t857-the-sims-3-crashes-freezes-to-desktop-fix-updated-on-7-01-2014) I moved the my documents file to a safe location (no change), and did DEP. I have sufficient RAM, I skipped over the graphics card because it's never been an issue in the past.

I read a bunch of Carlos's posts talking to other people about similar issues, but most of them were able to enter the game.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer. Sorry for being a complete noob.

Hello,

Check out the same solution I already described here:

https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t17124-sims-3-stopped-working-crash

Just focus on the "4 GB patch" I mentioned there, and then delete all these cache files too. And since you've seemingly done the DEP and the other stuff already, you can skip these of course. Good luck !

//EDIT

One more thing: where did you buy the games from ?

Game Crash on Startup. [SOLVED] Empty Re: Game Crash on Startup. [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Thu 03 Jul 2014, 03:32

Hi, thanks for the quick reply!

I gave the 4G patch a whirl, still having the same issue. I'm thinking about trying the simple installer with Seasons or Into The Future to see if it'll just overwrite whatever's going wrong.

(Did a double check on the backup of the My Docs files, definitely new inside.)

I bought the base game and WA on DVD when they came out from EB games (Canadian retailer), and I got the other EP and SP up to showtime/master suite and a collection of store items in a massive torrent (50GB ish) about 2 years ago. May have come from Razor1911, but not 100% sure. Took me an entire week to download, but totally worth it.

(possibly) Besides the point, I'm having issues with windows itself on startup, however it's been happening a long time and I was able to play fine during the issue. I bluescreen and if I go into advanced boot settings and choose to use configuration from last successful boot attempt, I get in fine. It's tedious, but I'm not sure if it could be related at all. (My windows is a legitimate copy)

In the past, windows update has killed my computer, and I've had to go off of a system image to get it back to normal. I'm going to run a system image, and try some select updates to check over my graphics card and some drivers to see if that has any impact.

Thanks so much for your help Carlos!

EDIT: I have text memory dump files from the sims 3 crashes. Apparently type: ACCESS_VIOLATION writing address 0x04660000 and it appears in each mdmp. I tried to upload a text file, but they're too large. Would those help either?

No, please don't post any crash logs on here, unless a Helper or Mod EXPLICITLY asks for them. Wink  Which, by the way, doesn't happen very often, lol.

Have you made sure that you really removed ALL .exe files, from ALL Sims 3 program folders (= from all expansions), from the "DEP" ? Also, are you absolutely sure you did the steps from #2 to #4 here, correctly ?

https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly

Also, (although that's just a theory for now), I would suggest you un-install your base game, and then re-boot the computer. After that, get hold of the G4TW base game on here: (the expansions from other uploaders should work fine, normally):

http://www.games4theworld.org/downloads.html

And then, of course, follow the steps from the "must-read guide". It's possible that your base game is a "newer" version, which requires to be logged into the Origin account, before starting the game. This base game, when installed, and before being patched, has the game version 1.42.130. As of now, I haven't been able to figure out as to what extent the Ultimate fix will work (or won't work) with that "new" base game, but let's see.

Good luck again ! Smile

If you want, you can use "Your Un-installer Pro", available from G4TW, to assist you with the clean un-install. Get the program on piratebay (just type in Your Un-installer Games4TheWorld"  - I can't post a direct link to Piratebay here).

After you installed the program, choose what you want to un-install, and then select "Super Mode", and follow the instructions. After you are done with removing ALL the stuff, re-boot the computer. And then re-install the games. Good luck, and take your time for doing so !
