External 500GB HD problem.
Hello,
When I attempt to use my 500GB External hardrive it recognizes it but does not show up on Computer. A few days ago I tried to use it and it would work but if you moved it a mm it would disconnect and reconnect. Any help greatly appreciated.
Also it is a WD HD

Hi there,
Since you mention that it would connect/reconnect when you moved it, the problem might be caused by a bad connection.
Try a different USB port first, and make sure that both ends of the cable are plugged in correctly and tight.
Alternatively try a different USB cable too, if you have a spare one. (Some digital cameras use the same connection/cable)

Hi,
Then please try as follows:
1. Disconnect HDD.
2. Open Start menu and type diskmgmt.msc followed by [ENTER].
3. Wait for the window to load and then connect your HDD.
4. Does a new drive show up?

Ok, it shows and just did a quick format. I think the drive was fine. I think it was the USB Hub.
