//MOVED
For the moment I'm moving this to the "PC Gamerlounge" section! We'll see if we re-open the Minecraft-forum on here...
I also got a TeamExtreme launcher (v3.5.1), from back then. But it doesn't seem to update/give the choice for anything after Minecraft 1.12.2. Do I need to re-download a new version of the TeamExtreme launcher?
Edit: I've fixed the problem by re-downloading the latest available version of the launcher by TeamExtreme ("Titan Minecraft Launcher 3.8.0"), and I'm now on patch 1.14.2!! Thanks for the post!

Yes, the previous launcher did not update further than 1.12.2, hence why you need the new one that's found on my linked page.
I removed the direct download link you added, if you don't mind, of course. It will be nice if people visit my site, so I get more views and they can also read my tutorial, which took me several hours to put together.
I appreciate the audience and I really hope that you can all enjoy it.
I will do my best to keep the links up to date on my site if a new version needs to be used in a future update.

It's OK, I didn't think about that.
We might be able to do something along these lines again, since the old Admin (or whoever is in charge of that old domain/server) basically banned everybody he didn't like, me including, I'm not sure if we will use the old server.
The question I have for the man is this. Is he thinking that using that old Minecraft server, with some people from the current community being banned, is actually a feasible idea? I'm not going to give the man any clout though, which is the reason I have closed the Minecraft section on here.
As I'm brooding more and more, I'm actually wondering what made the man so popular back then in the first place (apart from the -then- popular The Sims 3, and the fact that he didn't use any ads on the download links).

Thanks! I don't think we should use the old server, my server is there, you know you can have full access to it, including to make your own copies of it for the case something happens to me and all. That should have been done with the old server as well.The_gh0stm4n wrote:Sim Architect wrote:Yes, the previous launcher did not update further than 1.12.2, hence why you need the new one that's found on my linked page.

Some people promised to get in touch with the old Admin to get a copy of it, but they just did not deliver, for whatever reason. It's ok. My server is plain, simple, nice, has tons of plugins and it's a peaceful place where no grief is welcome at all. I really want for it to be a safe place where all of us can have a nice time together and if we have enough audience I might be able to upgrade to a more expensive plan to run 1.14 or perhaps buy a low power consumption computer and just run the entire server from home. Can't do that right now because electricity is way too expensive for me (I just got notice I will lose another 30% of my pension, which is my only "trusted" source of revenue ).
Back to my server, nobody is banned from it (as far as I remember), and people only get banned if they do something bad, like being aggressive, annoying or destructive. We have mods and backup routines in place to undo grief (and also trace who did what), and with your help we might be able to make it into a lively place that can bring us all some joy and bring the community spirit back to G4TW.
About the old G4TW server, not much can be done about it. I guess we just have to let it rest in peace and, if the old Admin ever wants, he can make a copy of the server files available for us to download in any manner he feels fit, or just let it be forgotten, no worries. We have to move on and continue writing our own history, or we will just not survive.

Re: How to Download and Install Minecraft 1.14.2 (and previous) without a Mojang Account
Not much else to add here, except one additional thing:
There were indeed attempts to communicate with the man about the topic, and my understanding is, that he (or whoever else is in control of these servers/the old domain) basically refused to hand over anything. Or rather, he did not flat out refuse it, but instead came up with some excuse or pretext. Either way, nothing was handed over, and communications ceased after that initial chatter.
Again, this is only my interpretation of the events that took place.
//EDIT
Curious thing is, he keeps posting "funny" .gif's on that website. The current one showing a man hugging another one, is probably a reference to me. In that the person "Fredo" in the .gif is portrayed as a traitor (a.k.a. me). The site matters, however, in that it is going to be the go-to place for a lot of people, especially those who registered long ago, and have missed out on recent changes. Such as the sale of the old "bestgoo.com" domain.
I'll shortly make another announcement that will deal mostly with the upcoming Sims 4 DLC, but also deal with a few other things.

You're not a traitor! He left the forum, nobody asked him to leave (as far as I know), quite the opposite!
The vintage Games4TheWorld website DOES have ads! It might not have pop ups but it surely has had AdSense since "ever". The forum used to have AdSense as well for as long I can remember.
People might be complaining because the ads might be a bit different now, but what can you do when you have costs to keep things up and running and no personal income to spare? People here don't donate or buy merchandise, it's fair enough they can spare a few extra seconds going through some ad annoyances.
Considering the extra reduced size of the moderators now compared to the old days, you're doing an excellent job and it's just unfair to say otherwise.

No worries.
When Ann brought up the idea of the promotion to the red group, we did talk about this aspect as well. In particular that the people close to the old Admin may not take kindly to this promotion. An estimate, that turned out to be partially correct. And while I don't necessarily want to be an a-hole, I will be if the need arises.

Yes, but: for most of the time in the past, the AdSense revenue of the Forum went to Forumotion (!!!). Only after they introduced their paid "packages" (a little more than a year ago I think), Forum owners had the option to re-direct the AdSense revenue of the Forums to themselves, alongside other types of monetization.

One thing straight away, I would rather have a small group of highly-capable Moderators, than many - but *not so good* Moderators. See also the new Forum banner that I put up. Dracos is currently pre-occupied with important real-life issues. And I literally mean, important. And SeoY may not post on the public Forums but helps with a lot of (technical) advice and other things.
