Generations installer not working

Hi everyone, I've got a copy of ts3 which I downloaded which isn't working (launch screen opens then when you click play it crashes) I attempted to crack it using all the files that came with the torrent (I hadn't found this website)

When I found this website I downloaded generations with the hope it would fix the original problem too but the installer just bounces in the dock and won't open.

Any ideas? Could it be my original copy of TS3 is causing all the problems and I just need to find another copy of that (now the pirate bay is gone it wasn't reloaded) or is there something I can do to get the generations installer working....no one else seems to have had this problem?

Hello,

If your base game worked before, there's no need to download another version.
I think your base game does work, but you don't have a crack for your current game version. If it didn't work, you wouldn't have been able to install it at all.
You'll have to extract the Generations file with stuffit expander, but that's about all I know, look around the mac section, there are a couple of stickies that seem helpful.
After you've installed Generations, you can use the fix (take care to get the mac version) to crack your game.
The pirate bay isn't gone by the way, take your pick here Wink

My base game has never worked, I had it a million years ago but it got deleted when I got my new mac so had to redownload. Think it might be because I'm running snow leopard?

I use unrarx, I've got all the files no problem but the installer just keeps bouncing in the dock.

Anyone else got any ideas?!

Hello,

Not that I know anything about MAC, but I don't think your OS is the problem. What I do know is that you really need to extract the rar files with stuffit expander.
I'm not sure why exactly, but on PC it is vital that winrar is used in stead of 7zip or winzip, because the files can get messed up. So my conclusion would be that that's the reason why you need stuffit expander on MAC.

The RELOADED base game definitely works on MAC.

I'm also reinstalling the sims 3 with no cracks added from anyone else so I can follow the instructions to the letter!

Argh now the installer opens but just says 'could not verify the integrity of the installer' and closes?!

Ok it's not just the Generations that's not working, the showtime expansion also opens and shows the 'could not verify the integrity of the installer' and closes. (I'm using stuffit now) Couldn't find anything to help on the mac forums so if anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful!

Ok as an update I've got the base game working perfectly but neither the showtime, nor the generations installers will work - just getting the error message above. I have used stuffit to expand them.

Driving me nuts!

After following all the steps I get as far as launching the sims to update before applying the final crack from the #crack folder and the sims just says 'an unknown error occurred' and closes.

I've never had so much trouble installing a crack! AND now I can't play the original sims game with no cracks!

I give up!!

Don't give up. There's a manual patch for MAC as well, it's here.
