Sims 3 crashes my PC upon startup

I'm really hoping someone can help me with the issue I've been having with the sims 3. I followed the instructions for installing and using the fixes to get the game going and the game does start up, however when the game runs it tends to crash my PC. (I have base game + pets expansion)

My first time launching the game, everything went smoothly and as I was creating my sim, the game crashed. The few times afterwards I've attempted to run it, it will open fine and start to load, but as soon as its either finished the initial loading screen, or as it is loading the town select screen it freezes and my computer crashes.

I do, sometimes, get an error from my graphics card saying it has stopped responding and was restarted. I am really hoping someone can help me with this problem.

There are several things we can try at this point.
I'll start with asking you whether you have any Mods or Custom Content?
If yes, please let us know.

If not, please provide the following information:

1. Graphic card model.
2. Your operating system.
3. 32- or 64-bit.

Okay so I tried all the steps that apply to me. Still doesn't work.

I have 32 bit Windows XP, 2 GB of RAM, and an ATI Radeon x300/x550/x1050 (I dont know which one it is, I just got this computer from my friend. The ATI CCC lists all 3 for some reason.)

I tried the parts of step 1 that weren't crossed out. I also tried step 4. Steps pertaining to different operating systems or having more than 2GB of RAM I did not bother with. With regards to step 6, I lowered my desktop resolution as that is the only thing I can do. The game will load, and when the "The Sims 2 Pets" screen is finished loading, my computer restarts.

Does it matter what I use to launch the game? Should I use the desktop icon made or shortcut to the TS3W crack?

I pass with flying green bar on both checks.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but have you tried using GameBooster?

So I downloaded Game Booster and that helped (I think). So what happens now is when it is done loading, the screen just kinda goes screwy. Then I minimize the game, and close the graphics card error I'm getting and restore the game window and it let me play. I'm going to try and play for a bit (and without the game booster) and see what happens.

What if you remove your current GPU drivers completely, restart your PC and then try to re-download and re-install them using that GPU driver-check tool?
