Problems after updating (Sims 3)
Hi favourite support people
I updated the other day and since doing so my game is ridiculously buggy and glitchy and crashes all the time... like every 15 minutes or so. I followed the instructions supplied for a mac update (only using the #crack folder).
Typically I use all the folders (I have all the expansions) but the instructions say otherwise so I didn't.
Do you know of a solution? Should I try all the folders? I'm gonna wait to hear from you before going ahead with anything.
Thank you kindly!

Re: Problems after updating (Sims 3)
Hello,
The problem is that after updating to 1.42 your game is buggy?
If yes, the Fix isn't going to fix that; it's caused by something else.
Do you have any Mods or Custom Content?

Re: Problems after updating (Sims 3)
Yeah... I updated it and now it's super unstable.
No CC that didn't come from here. No Mods other than the nobuildsparkles and nointro.
Edit: I should probably add that the game crashing isn't foreign to me.. Just not this much. I can't even create a family without it glitching and crashing. And I just noticed icons are blacking out (when he goes to read a cooking skill book, for instance). I read the solutions for game crashes but the RAM adjuster isn't available for mac download (and it seems like it's probably the source of the problem since I'm running a brand new iMac).
//EDIT
I thought it was working smoothly but I still can't make a family with
more than one sim in it without the game crashing still in CAS.

Hello,
On a PC I'd say, backup and remove this folder: Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3
Can you find this folder on a Mac?

Having Same Issue
Today has been a long day!
I installed, uninstalled and then re-installed all the EPs and SPs. Applied the fix, updated the game and I'm still crashing to the desktop. I can't seem to make a sim in CAS without crashing. I'm certain I applied all the files in the right folders, etc. There has to be some other issue. I previously had the base game, ambitions, world adventure and generations installed. They all ran fine before I updated to 1.4. Never crashed or glitched and had a ton of mods and cc.
I deleted the folder: Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3
Still crashing soon as I make a selection in CAS. Any suggestions?
BTW... I appreciate all the files and support. Anxious to start playing!
Lastly... I'm using a PC not a Mac... just noticed I posted in the wrong section.

Re: Problems after updating (Sims 3)
So... what do I do after backing up/deleting? And what happens if the game doesn't create a new folder and stops recognizing your saved games?
Sh*t just got real weird over here. I blame Mercury in Retrograde.

Your saved games are in the folder you did backup, it didn't create a new folder when you tried to play again.
All you need to do to play the saved games is moving the Saved Folder from The Sims 3 folder, back to the Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 folder.

Re: Problems after updating (Sims 3)
Sorry but you must not have understood what I meant. Once I deleted the Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 folder, a new one was never created (which was why I did it in the first place).
I can't plug my saved games back in because there's no where to put them. Does that make more sense?
Before I deleted the folder, the game stopped recognizing my settings, my custom content, my saved games... clearly something went wrong.

Re: Problems after updating (Sims 3)
Does anyone know how to solve this or what's causing it?
I reinstalled everything and the whole thing happened again.

Re: Problems after updating (Sims 3)
So I am led to believe it is user file related because deleting my user files seemed to help for a bit but it happened again. This time while running the game without custom content at all (not even the mods folder)...
I'm getting really frustrated/desperate. If anyone has seen this before, please let me know. I've been referring to the modthesims help files but their fixes were only temporary.
