Do the new Social Groups spawn outside Uni?

As the title says, does anyone know if NPCs will become part of the new groups outside of the sub-world? I would assume yes, but I feel like they wanted it to be Uni-specific.

Just curious since I haven't had the time to play a new world.

They do. It slightly bothers me.

I havent came accross them in person in my world but in the social group option on the smartphone it lists three random people I can phone under that social group.

This was before I went to Uni. So I'm guessing yeah.

they only come to you if you invite them over,like you invite sims over you have met in france,china or egypt.

Sometimes I just kind of try to ignore it, but something that really bugs me is that my household's mom has become a level 5 nerd already, and she talked to her daughter who then became a nerd too. I was planning on making the daughter a jock, but I accidently let her play some computer games and now she's level 3! I had to use some of her lifetime points to get her some jock influence.
Most of the Sims in my world aren't associated with social groups, so I'm not sure how the mom became a nerd.

don't let that bother you too much, you can be part of all three social groups at the same time. i've got a sim that is level 10 with all three social groups. there is even a lifetime wish for getting to level 10 with all three. as long as you are doing things that raise the jock influence on a regular basis, it's ok to let her play video games occasionally.

Well any skill-related activities that may fit under the nerd category such as science probably contributed to her nerdiness. It's pretty difficult to sidetrack any groups entirely since the game now associates so many mundane little interactions with social groups.
