Mood Meter bug/glitch!!! Empty Mood Meter bug/glitch!!!

Post by Guest Fri 23 Aug 2013, 02:44

Hello,

So after fixing some bugs and glitches in my game i encountered a new one that i just can't understand its cause. It seems this bug is affecting my mood meter. My sim is always happy (elated) even for example if i have only one moodlet which gives only +5. I'm not sure what causes this bug but i previously also had the Late Night Well Rested bed bug (which hundreds of people had) where sims were always miserable and fixed it by buying a more expensive bed. So now it seems i have the opposite problem and i have no idea why. Crying or Very sad

I know some people will say having sims who are always happy is great but it really feels like cheating to me. The only way to fix this temporary is by saving the game and restarting it from the main menu however the bug keeps re appearing on the first in-game day and it eventually becomes more severe. I tryed the resetSim cheat but this doesn't seem to recalculate the moodlets or the mood meter. If someone had this issue before and knows how to fix it or can help please help out Rolling Eyes

Only Nraas Overwatch mod. I tryed removing it and deleting the cache files but problem is still there. I'm trying to find the cause of the problem... maybe a borked moodlet is miscalculating the mood meter or something but really i can't find anything. I'm kinda dissapointed right now since i spent most of my time trying to fix this game instead of enjoying it Crying or Very sad

Hello,

Does this happen to only one save? Can you try to save your sims to bin and create a new save?

Hi,

I tried creating a new save with completely different sims and they don't have that bug (yet) but of course they do have that LN bed well rested problem. Now I searched around a bit and found a bug in Late Night expansion that might have something to do with my problem.
-mood bug elated forever: If your Sim achieves elated mood over a longer time, the mood will never go down even if many bad moodlets will show up on your Sim and no good moodlets are present.

However i found no fix for that and I'm not even sure if this has anything to do with my problem as my sim's mood can certainly go down if i manage to get many negative moodlets. By the way my traits are:
- Artistic
- Bookworm
- Loner
- Night Owl
- Perfectionist
I also found a mod that recalculates the mood meter and moodlets. It's called 'Mood Hotfix' (not sure if we are allowed to post links) however this mod is outdated and i'm not sure if it's compatible with my game version (1.55). I am all out of ideas... Maybe i should try change my sim's traits? confused confused confused

Hello,

You can of course try that. But if that doesn't work, you will have to wait for a patch released by EA to solve the problem. There are also expansion pack-related patches available. But it is not guaranteed the patches will fix the error.

Hello,

Besides waiting for a new patch, you can try this here:

Press Ctrl + Shift + C at the same time to open the cheat console. Now type testingcheatsenabled true and hit enter. Now in the game, hold Shift and then click on the "happy" moodlet to make it go away. Afterwards see if it gets "recalculated".

Occasionally I have similar bugs, and "removing" the moodlets with the cheat I described usually works for me.

 Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion! From what i can see using this cheat does not ''recalculate'' the values of the moodlets. It works just as if you wait them to ''wear off''. However thanks to this method i think i have found the cause of all this mess and it's once again the old annoying 'Well-Rested' bug. You get this moodlet after sleeping in a bed and the value of this buff varies with the kind of bed you sleep in. I think it's +10,+15,+20,+25 and +30 depending on how expensive the bed is (in my case +25). So after testing it on various moodlets i came across with this Well Rested moodlet and after removing it with this cheat something weird happened. It seems when my sim gets this moodlet his mood is increased by +25 which is normal, however when i remove or wait for this buff to deplete/wear off from my sim it only takes 20 away so i get a permanent +5 to my mood meter. This permament +5 accumulates over time and it eventually makes it almost impossible to have an unhappy sim. So in short each time you go to sleep you get a permanent +5 in your mood meter. I can also show you some screenshots i took:

Mood Meter bug/glitch!!! Ts3w_211

Mood Meter bug/glitch!!! Ts3w_212
What's even more weird is that people have done some testing on this too and found that the only beds that give the correct values are the +25 ones aka the one i got. Here is what I found from people who done some checking:
if it says +10, then it DECREASES your mood by 10 when it pops up, and decreases it by 10 AGAIN when it runs out. netting a -20 on your base mood every time you sleep.
if it says +15, then it increases it by only 5, then decreases it by 15 when it runs out. netting you a -10 on your base mood when it runs out.
if it says +20, then it increases it by 20, then decreases it by 25! (wtf..) when it runs out. netting you a -5 on your base mood.
if it says +25, then it increases it by 25, then decreases it by 25 when it runs out, being the only unbroken numberFacepalm
if it says +30, then it increases it by 30, then decreases it by 25 when it runs out, netting you a +5 to your base mood.

I'm even more confused now on why the correct bed still is not working for me but at least now i know the root of the problem...  (sry for the long post Razz )

Hello,

I had "Moodlet" bug too in the past. But mine is different from yours. Mine was that no matter how hard I tried, "Well Wested" moodlet never popped up and the "Energy" motive didn't fill after sleeping fully. I tried to let the sims sleep again after full sleeping but they never got "Well Rested" moodlet. Therefore, I tried to reinstall the expansion packs and the base game with this guide and the "Well Rested" moodlet finally appeared. Maybe you can try reinstalling but I think it's a bit over to reinstall because of this tiny bug.

Ughhhhhhh

Oh god not another reinstall No   I swear everytime i reinstall the old bugs disappear and new ones appear. But maybe i should try it as a last resort... but firstly I have an idea now that might fix this. If I remember correctly vampires replace the ''Well Rested'' moodlet with something called 'Slept like the Dead''. Hopefully EA did not simply copied/pasted the values of the ''Well Rested'' buff. I was planning on being a vampire with this sim anyway *crosses fingers* Rolling Eyes
