Sims 3 Launcher Won't Open

At the moment I'm trying to check what's causing my game to close in CAS, so I'm raking through my CC. Only problem is, is that my Launcher won't open up. I've tried the 'Sims3LauncherW.exe' and 'Sims3Launcher.exe', neither are working. Absolutely nothing pops up, I'm basically just waiting forever but I have to uninstall my .sims3pack files because I can't find the problem in the .package files. Any help with the launcher?

Hello,

With the patch 1.55 (the one that came along with the "Island Paradise" expansion), EA changed a few things about the launcher; the most "important" thing being a "fix" that prevents the launcher from deleting your installed .sims3pack-files.

The downside is that as of patch 1.55, the launcher needs a LOT of time to open, especially if you have many .sims3pack-files installed. So you have to be very patient - and just wait for the launcher to open.

As for your actual problem, I think I can give you a first hint: if you have "third-party CC" installed, that means, CC that was not made by EA, then you should delete all of those. As they haven't been made by EA, they haven't been tested either; so there is always some kind of "risk" associated with that kind of CC.

I spent hours yesterday waiting for the launcher to open, I'd also forgotten to turn my computer off last night. I don't think it would seriously take days for the launcher to open. Plus, I don't actually have a lot of .sims3pack files, so it shouldn't take a seriously long amount of time to open either way, or at least I wouldn't think so.

In that case, you can try re-installing the base game, maybe it can help, but I'm not sure about that.

Follow the instructions to remove all installed .sims3packs. Restart the game then and see if CAS still crashes.

By 'reinstalling the base game', does that require uninstalling everything all over again?
And, if I did try and follow the steps, I couldn't because I can't open the launcher...would I be able to just clear them from the DCBackup/DCCache and delete the CC that way?

You can (re-)install the base game without un-installing the other expansions. But don't do that yet; instead try the other method.

You don't need the launcher, luckily, to (un-)install .sims3pack files. Follow the instructions in the link I posted: that means backup the stuff, then delete DCCache and all the other things listed there. This will get rid of all installed .sims3packs.

Launcher still isn't working after clearing out all said folders...guess I'm off to reinstall the base game. I'll say how it works after doing so.

Start the game - you'll see that all your installed .sims3packs are gone (please forget that "launcher" from now on). Try the CAS and see if it still crashes.

Double-click on the TS3W.exe in the base game location to start the game.

If you want to try the "4 GB patch" (step #3), then choose the TS3W.exe in the base game location, when you are prompted to select an .exe file at the beginning.

Besides, do you have the NRAAS Master Controller mod ? If not, then download and install it: http://nraas.wikispaces.com/MasterController+Phase+Eleven

Inside the game, click on the town hall symbol or on any computer. Go to NRAAS/Master Controller/Settings/CAS/Show in compact form: clothing. If you click on the latter, a window should pop up , saying "Show in compact form: clothing = true". Then try CAS again.

Did both and it still crashed, although it lasted longer than before. Sadly I believe I've tried pretty much all of them except the system requirements one, but that's because I was able to run Sims on the highest quality with no problems before my computer was wiped.

EDIT:: I know that my computer isn't exactly the same from beforehand, but my game was set to the lowest settings by default any ways, so this isn't the problem. Guess I should've said that Embarassed

If you don't care about your savefiles and mods/CC, then go to My documents/Electronic Arts and rename the folder "The Sims 3". Re-start the game with the TS3W.exe.

Make a new savefile (for now) and test CAS again.
