What now? Empty What now?

Post by Guest Thu 04 Aug 2011, 23:02

So I've been playing the cracked version of Sims 3 for a while and I have several extensions installed.
According to this link: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly
I need to install Sims 3: Generations or Town Life Stuff BEFORE installing any other extensions. My question is; since I've already installed older extensions beforehand, do I need to reinstall everything and just follow the given guide?

Hello,
No you don't have to. You can install Generations and/or Town Life Stuff, apply the ultimate fix without reinstalling everything.
If you do run into problems a fresh install might be the answer, but its not needed right now.

Please let us know if you run into any problems during or after installing any other expansions, many problems can be solved without the need to reinstall.

So what I did was install Town Life Stuff and Generation, without applying the crack. I downloaded the fix and did as I was told --> applied the 2 files for each expansion I have. Afterwards, I opened the laucher and was well ahead on updating the game but just as its about to finish I get "error:file not found". Where did I go wrong?

Hello,
Are you sure you copied those files to the right folder? Please post a screenshot.

Yes. I've done it twice now. What exactly do you want me to screenshot?

The folder of where you copied the files for town life stuff and generations. Many people put those in the wrong folders because it appears to make more sense that way.
The "file not found" error is often caused by misplaced files.

Well according to the guide in the fix, it says to copy them to SIMS 3 folder aka. the base game right?

That's right, and yours looks ok.
Try updating manually. I had to do it that way myself.

How do you update manually? And btw; I want to install the store update as well. Can I do that afterwards, or does it need to be done before applying fix and all?

Hello,

The manual patch can be found here: http://games.softpedia.com/get/Patch/The-Sims-3-Patch.shtml
Just follow the steps from the Ultimate Fix and at the point where it says to open the launcher and update the game, just use the manual patch you just downloaded.
I recommend installing them afterwards. They should work fine, yes.
