Im stumped..

Sooo cracking the sims 3 with the ultimate fix is nothing new since i've got it to work perfectly fine on my PC and gf's Laptop.. but when i tried it on my friends laptop it didn't work..

So she has a bought base game that is a CD not online download. I installed and applied all expansions that she wanted (Everything aside from Supernatural, Into the Future, and Katy Perry) then i applied the crack into the base game folder, C:/Program Files(x86)/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Game/Bin. Once i start the launcher and press play it starts up. But during the black loading screen i get a Mod error. So i searched it up and found out it had something to do with the crack.. So i uninstalled all games and re installed all of them. Then i used the Manual patch this time around and then again placed the crack in the base game only to get the same error. If i continue on passed it, once i get to the main menu there are no texts, everything is blank. So i have to exit the game via Task Manger. Help? My only guess is that her base game is messing with the crack since its a CD version. Maybe a downloaded base game will solve the issue? She has no mods either or installed store content..

First of all, if you say you figured out that the problem lied in the "crack", then your un-installing was unnecessary. In fact, you should never un-install ANYTHING in Windows, unless you really want to get rid of it for good, or if you are absolutely sure about what you're doing. Smile

Blindly un-installing rarely solves issues, and if not done correctly, can only make things worse.

Besides that, there's the usual stuff:

If that base game was an original retail version (and not some torrent burned to a DVD), then the Ultimate fix should work fine with that one too. But yes, try the base game from Games4TheWorld then, if you feel you can't get it working.

In the guide I posted, make sure to do the steps from #2 to #4 correctly.

Steps 2 & 4 is what i've been trying all along with hers but it still wont work, the reason i uninstalled it the first time was because i forgot to mention i applied all the expansion cracks to there appropriate spot before reading that you no longer need to. So i reinstalled them to get rid of the cracked files since i didnt make any back ups.

Is there any other reason she would be getting the Mod Error?

It was still unnecessary.

For the future, just re-apply the latest manual patch in cases like this; it will allow you to start "afresh", and will get rid of all cracked files in the program folders. So you then only have to apply the two files from the #crack in the Ultimate fix.

And no, from a technical point of view there is hardly anything else to say. If your friend doesn't use any mods at all, and if you insist that you really did the steps correctly, then the only (somewhat) realistic option would be that something is wrong with the base game.

Try the G4TW base game, indeed.
