CC Guidelines/Rules. Empty CC Guidelines/Rules.

Post by Sim Architect Wed 20 Aug 2014, 23:38

Hello!

I would like to share my YouTube videos here (in the media section), and have the download links only in my videos, so I get more views in my channel (as people would be required to view my video to get the download link), can I do that?

Also, when I have content available for download, like houses, should I post the videos with those links directly on the House section or should I always use the Media section? Should I prefer to combine my material in one single post that I can reply to everytime I make a new video/download available or should I make separate topics for each new content?

Thanks a lot for everything, I hope to be able to produce material you like and it will be completely free to download, of course...

Hello again,

I split your post from Dracos's thread. Wink  I guess it depends on what exactly you want to do:

1) Do you ONLY want to focus on these videos ? If so, feel free to post the YouTube videos in the "Media" sub-forum.

2) If you also want to offer those houses (in the videos) for download, it would be nice if you posted the link AND the video too. Or instead of the video, you can also post pictures. People shouldn't be forced, in my opinion, to watch those videos until the end. Wink  Of course, again, that's my opinion, and maybe the Admins or the other Helpers/Mods have a different view on that...if you want to offer the house (too), please post in the "Lots" section.

Also, yes, for ONE house, I would make ONE thread. And then, if you want to upload another house, make another thread, and so on.

CC Guidelines/Rules. Empty Re: CC Guidelines/Rules.

Thanks, Carlos! I actually don't need everybody to see the whole video, they can just click the video link, open it, go to the description below the video and download the house.

It would allow YouTube to show some ads and I would make a few cents here and there, depending on the ammount of people.

I don't like the idea of posting the direct download link in my posts because I would probably get much less traffic to my channel...

I am looking for a pay per download host but they seem to require people to answer long surveys or even get paid offers, or they won't get their download, which I find actually very offensive. Linking only the youtube video with the house and having the "real" download video there would force people to, at least, give me more views in my channel, know my work a little better and help me on the long run.

I have a few videos on line and I didn't make 20 dollars since april (I have the channel since one year ago, but the monetization only started working this April). It's not all about the money, but I feel that rewarding feeling when I get more views and comments on my videos, and if I get to make 100 dollars per year I am more than happy, since it's not about the money, but the money validates my hard work and hundreds of hours I spend editing, compiling, building...

I know, I should be ashamed for this "need" for appreciation, but I can't help myself Sad

Please forgive me.

Thanks again for helping me! I will post videos now, since I don't have files to download, all in the Media Section. Then, when I fix my game, I will open my old saves in edit town, export the houses and make them all available, and post them into the Houses section.

I wish you a great evening!

I'm not sure if this applies to your case, though...

Dracos66 wrote:10: G4TW has NO objections nor problems with you uploading your creations from your own private blog, forum or even the EA forum. Just add a link back to your original posting. We do ask that you NOT take advantage of G4TW Sims 3 Exchange and use us only to advertise your blog or forum. If we (staff) find that you are ONLY uploading to promote your blog, forum or the EA site, you will be given notice that we are aware of this and ask you to stop. If you can't abide by this simple guideline then please don't upload your creations.

Your case would be a "grey area" in my opinion, since you "not only" want to attract traffic (and money) to your channel, but also want to provide download links. I'll ask the Admins what they think of that; but if you really insist on that, try posting some pictures too, and not only the video then, so that people at least get an idea of what the house looks like, without having to watch the video. Thanks, Carlos!

Oh no! It's not about becoming popular, it's just a side effect I wish. Please take a look at my first post on the media section, when I post the links to the video, you can also see the thumbnail, which shows the content itself.

I really don't want to post empty content to make money or anything like that, I think that maybe you, Lady ElDi and the Admin remember that I used to come here in the past not to take advantage of the forum, ever, but to participate as a collaborative member.

I admit having some bad thoughts around charging for my stuff in the past, but I was pretty depressed back then and I did many other crazy things, being that the one of the reasons I went away from so many communities for so long.

Now that I feel better, I hope that I can be an active member again, always looking forward giving more than I take.

Thanks a lot for your understanding and I will look forward hearing your opinion on the best way to help and get tiny bits of love back as well Smile

Hello there,

Of course I remember you from "back then".
Don't rely on ads too much, most people use Adblockers nowadays. Adblock Plus also blocks YouTube ads.
You should mention something like "Please turn off your Adblocker when visiting my channel, because blabla". I've never liked ads, honestly. The two ads we have HERE are still experimental. They have been up for a few months now, and have generated enough to cover maybe 5% of the server's upkeep costs. Razz
Having lots of traffic doesn't automatically mean lots of $$, unfortunately.

Like Carlos suggested, it might be nice to post one or two pictures too.

Thanks! I will do that! I also use ad blockers, because lots of sites are too polluted, since people exaggerate and, instead of having a couple of ads, spread them all over the place and you end up with 80% of ads and 20% of content instead of the other way around...

To be honest, since I am starting with this, I will be more than happy if people watch my videos and share them, and a couple of them watch an ad here or there to help.

I didn't know that adblock would block YouTube ads, I have two ad blockers, adblock plus and another one that is specific to YouTube, because I find really annoying to get those loud ads (I don't know why they have to rock the volume all the way up in ads, it's more scary than interesting and I end up wanting to close it ASAP when I play videos on my phone late in the night)....

Thanks a lot for your advice, I will put some kind of comment letting people know that, if they can turn off their ad blockers temporarily, so I can get paid per ads displayed, it will help me make some candy money Wink

I am really happy to know you remember of me, this was always one of my favorite places to be, not because of the content only, but because of the nice people that I didn't find anywhere else yet...

Have a fantastic weekend!!!
