Sims 3 crashes during interaction with other Sims --HELP--

I have been playing The Sims 3 for over two years now and have never encountered this problem before. I have been having an issue that causes the game to unexpectedly crash during conversation with another Sim. I am fully able to play the game normally with no problems, no matter what it is I am doing, however as soon as it comes to chatting with another Sim, it freezes for about two seconds and then proceeds to crash and sends me back to the desktop. I do have expansions to The Sims 3 and may feel that I might have too many, would anything there be the case? The expansions I have are: 
Ambitions
High-End Loft Stuff
Late Night
Master Suite Stuff
Pets
Town Life Stuff
University Life

Any help or advice I can get will be much appreciated, thank you simmers!

Are you using mods at all?
Whether or not you have too many expansions depends on your computer specs. Though if that is the case, the problem usually doesn't manifest itself at a particular moment, but rather, at random.

I have 1 mod running however the problem still persisted prior to the installation of the mod. I feel as though there may be a certain action involved in the interactions between sims as I have played it without interaction towards another sim for about 4 hours yet the second I speak to one - it crashes. I am not sure what this problem could be and while the game is playable without interaction, I feel as though sending a Sim to University and not interacting would make the expansion hardly worth it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Seems as though that solved the issue as far as I can tell. Any idea what would have been causing the problem then? Thanks for the help!
