The milk-thread !
So, who likes milk as much as I do (apart from those of you who are intolerant to lactose) ?
Since many years now I've been mostly buying off the milk from a neighbor, who also delivers to dairy producers. That neighbor is giving me the milk cheaper than the regular supermarket-milk, and since that milk is coming "directly" from the cows, it's the most natural thing too. Never experienced any problem with that milk, and I trust that neighbor well enough that everything is OK on that end.
The disadvantage of the 'natural' milk is that due to it being untreated, it spoils VERY quickly, and hence you need to consume it within a day of buying it, but preferably not more than two days. And of course, put the milk immediately into the fridge too. The "industrial" milk on the other hand, among other stuff, undergoes heat treatment that will kill most bacteria, hence the supermarket-milk typically doesn't spoil as quickly.
That said, who likes a glass of good white stuff ?

Re: The milk-thread !
Growing up I used to love milk but as I got older and became aware of the hormones found in supermarket milk, it just put me off milk completely.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm guessing the milk you buy is "raw-milk." This reminds me of a funny article I read recently, the headline says it all.

I was going to say "my son", but then I read the rest of your post
True story: I went to the agricultural school and I have all the paper's needed to be a dairyfarmer. I spent 4 years learning all about cows. Cow's health. Cow's dietary needs and how to calcutale a cow's specific need. Breeding the best dairycows. Milking cows. Yes, I milked cows almost daily for 4 years. I can do it by hand or use the machine.Etc. Etc. Working there earned me the money to get driving lessons.
During that time, at the farm, I also drank a lot of raw milk. And yes, that is the best!! It's unfortunate that I'm not near any dairyfarms. Have you ever tried pancakes made with the milk that is produced in the first days after the calf is born? Ask your neighbour, he will know.
@Knorella depending on where you live, there may be artificial hormones in the milk. For the most part, that is not true in Europe since that is very well regulated over here. The rules are very strict. No cows are being treated with hormones, so any hormones present in the milk are similar to those in any lactating female's milk, including people.
Dutch dairycows are worldfamous did you know that? The Holstein Frysian.

Also, it's extremely rare to get sick from raw milk. Again, this is all very well regulated. If one gets sick from drinking raw milk, it's most likely that it wasn't fresh.

Re: The milk-thread !
Well this topic got an awkward twist. I was about to make some jokes, but Edin stole most of them, unfortunately.
Oh no, wait, I might have some.
Yeah, if often get milk from my neighbour too. And no, she doesn't live on a farm. Ha-ha. No? No one?
Just kidding, just kidding, I like milk. Especially in a good cup of tea. English-style.
We just got introduced to a whole other side of Edin.
Edin knows a lot about cows. Edin likes cows. Edin likes milking cows with her hands too. Edin is good.
Is... is that you on the picture? You really love cows, don't you?

Re: The milk-thread !
Occasionally, I put a little milk into my black tea too. But mostly I drink the milk "as it is".
Also, I never got sick from the raw milk, and have been drinking it for a long time now. I guess you need to be able to verify and trust the source you get your raw milk from.

Re: The milk-thread !
I didn't mention it I think, but I only need to pay my neighbor 0.60 Euros per liter of raw milk, which is a LOT cheaper than the supermarket milk. I never asked though how much the dairy company actually pays my neighbor, in comparison to me...

Actually, that depends on a number of factors
Firstly, it's a dynamic price. It can vary from month to month, it varies between companies, depends on how much fat/protein is in it, and it's a price per 100kg (note that it's not a price per liter). It could really be any price between 20 and 50 euro's/100 kg.

Sounds interesting. Undeterred by any speculations of "possibly deadly bacteria in raw milk", I myself continue consuming it, or maybe I'm already somewhat "immune" to the bacteria due to many years of consuming it ?
Also, most "studies" seem to indicate that the nutritional values between pasteurized and raw milk are nearly the same; since in my case I can get the raw for a much lower price per liter than the supermarket milk, I'll continue with raw milk then.
I also played a bit with Photoshop myself...and here is "ghostnimal" incoming:

Re: The milk-thread !
Well I mean, I've got a medical condition so milk upsets me from time to time (my entire life with food is hit and miss, I just have a bad digestive system that decides when it wants to work and when it doesn't) but yeah, milk is pretty cool... i guess. I don't like it without cereal though. I hate just drinking milk.
I barely have dairy that I even broke my hand the other month just by hitting it against a metal pole. So now I just eat a ton of cheese aha....
