How to torrent the RIGHT way.

I've pretty much been torrenting for a while, and I'm not sure the way i've been doing it is safe or not. Can some torrenting pro's tell me how to torrent the safe and correct way with minimal risk? Thanks!

Hi, Nasayakah!
There's no "safe recipe" that is 100% secure, but I follow this basic rules I created for myself:
1. If possible, download from a trusted source, like Games4TheWorld;
2. Otherwise, when browsing at kickass torrents or piratebay, only download from trusted or VIP sources (I try to use the same sources I used before always when possible);
3. If I can't do 1 or 2, download and try the "new stuff" on a virtual machine first, or "pray for the best" and take the risk...
Google helps a lot, after some time you will find yourself recognizing better and worse sources around just by seeing their names or domains (of course, there are fakes all over the internet, but you will also learn to spot them a little bit better).
Anyway, practice makes it as perfect it can be, and we are always at a risk even if we only use software we paid for.

i have read the above since i am concerned about safety as well if i am going to download i would think that pirate bay would be the best and safest i do know how to look for alot of seeders, VIP and the comments and size of the torrent can you recommend anything else? i have up to date avg virus protection and malware bytes as well? thanks in advance!

In my experience, safety issues in torrents are generally rare. Most problems that arise come from dubious websites that e.g. promise to give you exclusive stuff such as game torrents which have not been released yet on the regular torrent networks. And you have to complete a "survey" in order to access the download.
It's a nice example of (negative) social engineering here, that these websites play with the feelings and hopes of users to get "exclusive content available nowhere else". Remember: if anybody prompts you to complete a survey or give any other personal information just in order to get a pirated game or piece of software, better leave it !

ty@carlos you can never be too sure out there is cyber land that is why it is always good to ask i am also using a vpn (hotspot shield) that is the only one that i could find for free but only lasts 3 days from what i understand i will need to find another once the days are up...again ty for all of the info!
